As Varikka pulls Merrin along the narrow ledge, the water rushes in, filling the chamber with a deafening roar. The force of the impact sends Merrin stumbling, her injured leg buckling beneath her. Varikka catches her, holding her upright as the ledge creaks ominously beneath their feet. "Merrin, I need you to focus now," Varikka says, her voice strained as she grips the ledge tightly. "That path is our only chance. We have to move quickly before this whole place comes down on top of us."

The dwarf's eyes scan the chamber frantically, searching for any other way out. Suddenly, a glowing-eyed creature darts out from the darkness ahead, its eyes fixed on Varikka.

I swallow hard, my heart hammering in my chest as I spot the glowing eyes fixed on Varikka. "Looks like we've got company," I mutter, my hand tightening on my mace. I glance around frantically, trying to spot any other potential threats lurking in the darkness of the chamber. The water is still rising fast, and I can feel the cold seeping into my bones as we cling to the narrow ledge. "We need to keep moving," I say, my voice tight with tension. "I'll take point and try to clear a path ahead. You focus on getting us to higher ground."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come. The pain in my leg is still sharp, but I push it aside, knowing that we can't afford to stop now. With a grim nod to Varikka, I start to move forward, my mace at the ready and my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. "Stay close behind me," I call out over my shoulder. "And watch your step - we can't afford any more injuries if we want to get out of here alive."

I take another step along the ledge, my heart pounding in my chest as I try to keep my footing on the slick stone. The water is still rising fast, and I can feel the ground shifting beneath my feet as the chamber continues to shake and crumble around us. "Let's see if we can't find a way out of this mess before the whole place comes down around our ears!"
