Round 325 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka examines Merrin's ankle, she winces in pain as the slightest movement causes her to grimace. "You're going to have to keep that twisted ankle elevated for a while," Varikka says, gently helping Merrin sit up and propping her against a nearby stone wall. The cool air of the chamber provides some relief from the cold water and dampness of the tunnels they just escaped from. Meanwhile, the sound of rushing water grows louder as the pressure in the chamber increases, causing the ledge to creak ominously beneath Varikka's feet. She glances up at Merrin, her eyes filled with concern. "Merrin, we need to find a way out of here, and fast. The water pressure is getting worse by the minute, and we can't afford to get trapped down here any longer."
Varikka's words send a chill down my spine, even as the cool air of the chamber provides some relief from the icy water we just escaped. I can feel the adrenaline still coursing through my veins, but the pain in my ankle is starting to make itself known, throbbing insistently with every beat of my heart. "You're right," I say, wincing as I try to shift my position against the wall. "We need to find a way out of here, and fast."
I glance up at Varikka, taking in the concern etched into the lines of her face. She's been my rock throughout this whole ordeal, guiding me through the tunnels and keeping me sane when everything else seemed to be falling apart. And now, with my ankle twisted and the water pressure rising by the minute, I know that we're both going to have to rely on each other even more if we want to make it out of here alive. "Let's take stock of our supplies," I say, reaching for the pack at my side. "We've got some food and water, but I don't know how much good they'll do us down here in the dark." I rummage through the contents of the pack, my fingers brushing against the cool metal of my lockpicks and the rough wood of my crowbar. "But maybe we can use these to find a way out," I murmur, more to myself than to Varikka. She nods, her eyes scanning the chamber for any signs of an exit. The walls are damp and slick with moisture, and the air is heavy with the scent of mold and decay. But as she moves closer to the edge of the ledge, I can see the fear in her eyes as she realizes just how precarious our situation has become. "We need to be careful," she says, her voice barely a whisper. "The water pressure is getting worse by the minute, and we can't afford to get trapped down here any longer."
I nod, my heart sinking as I realize just how dire our situation has become. We're lost, injured, and running out of time. But with Varikka by my side, I know that we can face whatever challenges lie ahead. Together, we can find a way out of this ancient tower and back into the light. "Alright," I say, pushing myself up from the ground and reaching for my pack. "Let's see if we can find a way out of here."
Varikka: Merrin, we need to be smart about this. That ankle of yours isn't going to get better on its own, and the water's rising faster than we can outrun it. I glance over at the ledge, seeing how the waves lap at the stone, threatening to wash us off into the depths. We're trapped between a rock and a hard place here, and I don't see any easy way out. But I'm not ready to give up yet. Not when we've come this far, and not when Merrin's counting on me to keep her safe. I take a deep breath, trying to ignore the ache in my own muscles and the fear that's starting to coil in my gut. We need to find some higher ground, somewhere we can rest and tend to our injuries before we try to make a run for it. And if that means fighting our way through whatever horrors this place has in store for us, then that's what we'll do. I turn to Merrin, seeing the pain etched into the lines of her face. "Can you walk?" I ask, my voice gentle but firm. "We need to find a way out of here, and fast."
She nods, wincing as she tries to put weight on her injured ankle. "I can manage," she says, her teeth gritted in determination. "Just help me up, and we'll figure this out together."
And so, with a deep breath and a silent prayer to whatever gods might be listening, I reach out my hand to Merrin, helping her to her feet as we prepare to face whatever challenges lie ahead. Together, we can find our way out of this nightmare and back into the light. But first, we need to survive the darkness.
