Round 324 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The party's recent actions have left them gasping for breath on the damp ground beyond the doorway they just emerged from. The cool, fresh air is a welcome respite from the icy cold water and damp stone of the tunnel they escaped from. However, as they catch their breath, Varikka notices that Merrin seems to be favoring one leg over the other, her movements slightly unsteady. Merrin winces in pain as she shifts her weight, her eyes scanning the chamber ahead for any signs of danger. "I think I twisted my ankle back there," she says, her voice grim. "We need to find a safe place to rest and tend to it before we can move on." The party's situation has just taken a new turn, with Varikka's injury adding another layer of complexity to their already precarious situation.
I grimace as I try to take a step, my twisted ankle sending a jolt of pain through my leg. Varikka's eyes narrow in concern as she notices my limp. "Merrin, are you alright?" she asks, her voice laced with worry. I shake my head, biting back a curse as I shift my weight onto my other foot. "I think I twisted my ankle back there," I say, my voice strained. "It's not broken, but we need to find a safe place to rest and tend to it before we can move on."
Varikka nods, her eyes scanning the chamber ahead for any signs of danger. The air is cool and fresh here, a welcome change from the damp, moldy scent of the tunnels we just escaped from. But even with the relative safety of our current location, I know that we can't afford to let our guard down. We're still deep within the ancient tower, with who knows what other horrors lurking in the shadows. "I'll help you find a place to sit," Varikka says, her voice gentle as she wraps an arm around my waist to support me. "We need to get that ankle elevated and iced before it swells up too much."
I nod gratefully, leaning on her for support as we make our way deeper into the chamber. The stone walls are damp and slick with moisture, and the air is heavy with the scent of mold and decay. But as we move further away from the doorway we emerged from, I begin to feel a sense of relief wash over me. We've survived this far, Varikka and I. And with her by my side, I know that we can face whatever challenges lie ahead. "Thank you," I murmur, as Varikka helps me settle onto a dry patch of ground in a corner of the chamber. "I don't know what I would do without you."
She smiles, her hand gentle on my shoulder as she kneels beside me. "You'd do the same for me," she says simply, her eyes meeting mine with a look of understanding and trust. "That's what friends are for."
As Varikka begins to examine my ankle, I feel a sense of gratitude wash over me, even as the pain from my injury throbs through my leg. We may be lost and injured, deep within the depths of this ancient tower. But with Varikka by my side, I know that we can find our way out. Together, we can face whatever challenges lie ahead, and emerge victorious on the other side.
