As Merrin and Varikka catch their breath on the ledge, they hear the sound of the chamber's entrance collapsing behind them. The roar of the falling stone and debris grows louder, and the ground shudders beneath their feet. Suddenly, a loud splash echoes from the water below, followed by a faint scratching sound against the stone floor. Merrin looks down at Varikka's wrist, where the rope is still tied. "We need to cut that rope now," she says, her voice firm with urgency. "If the tentacled horror gets any closer, it'll pull us back down into the water."

Varikka nods, her eyes scanning the ledge for a suitable tool. "I think I can use my crossbow bolt to cut it," she says, carefully examining the rope.

I crouch down beside Varikka, my eyes darting between her strained face and the frayed rope binding her wrist. The sound of crumbling stone and churning water fills the air, a constant reminder of the precariousness of our situation. "Let me help you with that," I say, reaching for my lockpicks. "These should be able to cut through the rope quickly."

As I work on the rope, I can feel the ledge beneath us shaking more violently. It's as if the entire chamber is on the verge of collapse, ready to come crashing down at any moment. But we can't afford to waste time worrying about that now. We need to get out of here before the tentacled horror finds its way up to us. I hear Varikka gasp as I sever the last strand of rope, freeing her wrist from its binding. "There," I say, tossing the lockpicks back into my pack. "Now let's see if we can find a way out of here before this whole place comes down on top of us."

I stand up slowly, testing the stability of the ledge beneath my feet. It wobbles slightly, but seems to be holding steady for now. I look around, trying to spot any hidden passages or secret doors that might offer us a chance at escape. But all I can see is the crumbling stone walls and the swirling waters below. "What do you see?" I ask Varikka, my voice hushed with urgency. "Is there any way out of here?"
