As Merrin and Varikka catch their breath on the stone floor, they hear the sound of the chamber's entrance collapsing behind them. The roar of the falling stone and debris grows louder, and the ground shudders beneath their feet. The rope they used to climb out of the water is now taut, stretching between the ledge where Merrin pulled Varikka to safety and the edge of the stone floor. The tentacled horror, which had been slithering through the water below, is momentarily distracted from its pursuit of Varikka. It's now focused on the sound of the collapsing chamber, its glowing eyes fixed on the entrance as it senses the opportunity to escape the rising waters.

We made it out, but I can't relax yet. The whole chamber could come down any second. Varikka, we need to keep moving! I grab your arm, pulling you up on the ledge beside me. I look around frantically, trying to see a way out in the darkness. The rope is still tied around my wrist, the other end stretching out over the water where I pulled you to safety. But it's not going to help us climb any higher. We're trapped on this ledge, with no way up and no way down. The tentacled horror is still down there in the water, slithering around like a giant eel. Its glowing eyes fix on Varikka, and I feel my stomach twist with fear. But I can't let that stop me from acting. I reach for my crossbow, fumbling for the bolts in my pack. Varikka, do you see any way out of here? Any hidden passages or secret doors? We need to find a way to get higher before this whole place comes crashing down on top of us.
