Round 305 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin and Varikka flail in the icy waters, the tentacled horror closes in, its tentacles snaking around them like deadly whips. The creature's massive body looms above, its eyeless gaze fixed on the pair with an unspeakable hunger. Merrin's legs thrash wildly, trying to find purchase on the slick stone, but it's no use - the water is too fast, the current too strong. The key clutched in Merrin's hand feels like a cold weight, a constant reminder of their desperate situation. Just as all hope seems lost, Varikka manages to grab onto a rocky outcropping, pulling herself up and out of the water.
I let out a startled yelp as my torch extinguishes, plunging us into inky darkness. Varikka's desperate grip on my arm is like a vice as we plunge into the icy water, the shock of the cold stealing the breath from my lungs. I can feel the current tugging at my legs, threatening to pull me under at any moment. But even as I struggle to stay afloat, I can hear the telltale slither of tentacles cutting through the water around us, their eyeless gazes fixed on our position like a predator stalking its prey. "Swim for the ledge!" I manage to gasp out, my teeth chattering from the cold. "We need to get out of this water now!"
But even as I say it, I know that it's easier said than done. The chamber is pitch black, and the water is churning with a ferocity that makes it nearly impossible to swim in a straight line. I can feel my strength fading with every passing second, my limbs growing heavy and sluggish as the cold seeps into my bones. I thrash desperately, trying to keep afloat, but the current is too strong. I can feel something brush against my leg, sending a jolt of fear through me. The creature is getting closer, its tentacles reaching out for us in the darkness. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice barely audible over the rush of water. "Grab onto me!"
I reach out blindly, my hands scrabbling against the icy surface, trying to find some purchase. But it's no use - the stone is too slick, too smooth. I can feel my strength fading, my lungs burning from the effort of treading water. Please, I pray silently, my eyes screwed shut against the inky blackness. Please let there be a way out of this hellhole. But even as I think it, I know that the odds are stacked against us. The water is rising fast, and the creature is getting closer with every passing second. We're trapped, adrift in a sea of darkness, with no hope of escape. All we can do is keep fighting, keep struggling against the current and the creatures that hunt us. And pray that somehow, someway, we'll find a way to survive this nightmare.
