Merrin pulls Varikka closer, their footsteps echoing off the cold stone walls as they navigate the winding passageway. The water pressure surges forward, threatening to pull them off balance, but Merrin's grip on Varikka's arm holds firm. As they press on, a faint scuttling noise grows louder, and the air seems to vibrate with an otherworldly energy. Suddenly, a section of the wall behind them gives way, and a hidden door swings open, revealing a narrow stairway that leads down into darkness. The water pressure surges forward, trying to pull them towards the opening, and Merrin must decide whether to follow Varikka down the stairs or try to find another way around the rising waters.

The heavy footsteps of the horror echo off the damp walls, getting closer with each passing moment. Varikka's grip on my arm tightens, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps. I can feel the fear radiating off her in waves, and it takes all of my willpower not to let it consume me as well. We're trapped, cornered like rats in a maze, with no way out but through the depths of this accursed tower. The water is rising faster now, the current stronger, threatening to sweep us off our feet at any moment. And still, the horror pursues us, relentless and unyielding. I know we can't keep running forever. Sooner or later, it will catch up to us, and then... I shudder to think what will happen when it does. But I also know that we can't give up. Not with Varikka's life on the line. So I do the only thing I can do. I grab her hand, my fingers interlacing with hers, and I pull her forward with all the strength I can muster. "Come on," I whisper, my voice ragged with exhaustion. "We have to keep moving."

And so we push deeper into the darkness, our hearts pounding in our chests, our lungs burning with the effort of each step. The horror's footfalls grow louder behind us, and I can feel its hunger, its anticipation, as it closes in on its prey. But still, we run. Because what else can we do? In the end, all we have is each other, and the desperate hope that somewhere, somehow, a way out exists. We'll find it. We have to.
