As we press on into the darkness, the water pressure surges forward, threatening to pull us off balance. I grab Varikka's arm more firmly, my heart racing with every step. The ground beneath our feet gives a loud creak, and I can feel the weight of the ancient stones shifting. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the passageway, causing the ground to shudder beneath our feet. The water pressure surges forward, threatening to pull us off balance. "Steady!" I shout, my voice barely audible over the din of the water. Varikka's eyes are wide with fear as she clings to my arm, her nails digging into the fabric of her tunic. As we struggle to maintain our balance, a faint scuttling noise emanates from the darkness ahead, making us both tense up. The sound is followed by a low growl, and I can feel the air in the passageway grow thick with tension. We are forced to decide whether to press on, investigate the source of the sound, or try to find a safer route. The narrow opening in the far wall leads to a long, winding passageway that seems to twist and turn endlessly before us. The air is thick with the smell of damp stone and decay, and I can hear the sound of water dripping from somewhere in the distance.

I'm not sure what's making that noise, but I don't like it. Varikka, we need to keep moving. There's no telling what could come out of the shadows in this place. I tighten my grip on her arm and pull her forward, my muscles straining as we fight against the weight of the water. The ledge beneath us groans ominously, and I can feel the ground shifting beneath my feet as we struggle to maintain our balance. But even as we move deeper into the passageway, I can't shake the feeling that something is watching us from the darkness ahead. The air is thick and oppressive, the weight of centuries of history bearing down upon us from all sides. And as we press on into the unknown, I can feel a sense of dread settling over me, as if we've just crossed some invisible threshold into a realm where the rules of the world we know no longer apply.
