Round 278 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin stands firm, her dagger at the ready, the spindly hand hesitates, its skeletal fingers wavering in mid-air. Suddenly, a figure emerges from the shadows, its body twisted and elongated like a puppet on a string. The creature's eyes glow with an ethereal light, and it regards Merrin with a mixture of curiosity and hunger. The Guardian speaks in a voice that sends shivers down Merrin's spine, "You should not have come here, mortal. This passage is not for the living." Its gaze flicks to the secret passage behind Merrin, and its expression darkens. "The creature you seek is not to be trifled with. It will not be easily defeated." The Guardian pauses, its eyes narrowing as it considers Merrin's next move. "Will you continue down the passage, or will you heed my warning?"
I stare at the Guardian, my heart still racing from the encounter with its skeletal hand. Its ethereal glow and twisted form send a shiver down my spine, but I refuse to let my fear show. "You're right," I say, my voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through my veins. "This passage is not for the living. But I have no choice. I must find a way out of this hellhole, and if that means facing whatever horrors lie ahead, then so be it."
I take a step forward, my dagger still at the ready as I peer into the shadows beyond the Guardian. The scuttling sounds grow louder, and I can feel the weight of unseen eyes upon me. "What is it you're protecting?" I ask, my gaze fixed on the Guardian's glowing eyes. "And why does it matter so much?"
The Guardian's expression darkens, its skeletal fingers curling into fists at its sides. "The creature you seek is not to be trifled with," it says, its voice a low growl. "It will not be easily defeated." It pauses, considering my next move. "Will you continue down the passage, or will you heed my warning?"
I hesitate for a moment, my mind racing as I consider my options. The sound of rushing water grows louder in the distance, and I know that time is running out. I have to make a choice, and fast.
