The staircase beneath them begins to crumble, its wooden supports splintering and breaking as the structural collapse continues to worsen. The sound of shifting stone and creaking wooden beams fills the air, growing louder with each passing moment. Immediate pressure: Merrin and Varikka must navigate the treacherous ledge and find a way to stabilize the staircase before they're crushed by the falling debris. Merrin's eyes scan the water below, searching for any sign of movement from the Tentacled Horror or the glowing-eyed creatures. Varikka stands frozen beside her, her eyes fixed on the staircase as it begins to collapse further. The heavy mace in Merrin's hand feels like a weight in her palm, a futile attempt to stem the tide of destruction.

The ledge is narrow and treacherous, the stonework slick with moisture. I can feel the staircase crumbling beneath my feet, its wooden supports splintering and breaking under the weight of the rising water. Varikka is right behind me, her eyes fixed on the glowing-eyed creature that's now hovering just below us. I know we can't stay here, not with the structural collapse getting closer by the second and the Tentacled Horror still lurking in the depths. I glance down at the heavy mace in my hand, its weight a comforting presence against the rising water. But even with that, I know we can't fight off whatever lurks beneath the surface indefinitely. We need to find a way out of this nightmare, and fast. "Varikka," I pant, my voice strained with exhaustion and fear. "We need to keep moving along this ledge. It's our only chance."

I can see the terror in her eyes, the way her body trembles with each step we take. But I know we can't stop, not now. So I reach out a hand, grasping hers tightly as we edge our way along the narrow stone path. It's slow going, each step a struggle against the surging water and the weight of our sodden clothes. But we keep moving, my heart pounding in my chest as I feel the Tentacled Horror's bioluminescent markings flashing closer and closer. The sound of shifting stone and creaking wooden beams grows louder with each passing moment, filling the air around us like a death knell. I know that if we don't find a way out of this soon, we'll be crushed by the falling debris or pulled down into the depths by whatever lurks beneath the surface. But I can't let that happen. Not when Varikka is depending on me to keep her safe. So I keep moving, my hand gripping hers tightly as we edge our way along the narrow ledge. And I pray that somehow, someway, we'll find a way out of this nightmare alive.
