Round 254 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin collapses onto the rocky shore, her body shakes with sobs, the cold stones biting into her back. The creatures' hellish eyes still glow in the water behind her, their forms twisting and writhing as they feast on Varikka's lifeless form. A massive boulder crashes down from above, sending Merrin tumbling forward. She scrambles to her feet, her eyes fixed on the tower as it continues its relentless collapse, rubble and debris crashing down around her. With a surge of adrenaline, she sprints towards the shore, the distance between her and the falling boulders shrinking with each step.
I scramble to my feet, heart pounding in my chest as another boulder crashes down just behind me. I don't have time to mourn Varikka, not when the entire tower is coming down around me. With a burst of adrenaline, I sprint towards the shore, the distance between me and the falling debris shrinking with each step. I can hear the creatures' hellish eyes still glowing in the water behind me, their forms twisting and writhing as they feast on Varikka's lifeless form. But I don't dare look back, not when death is raining down from above. As I reach the edge of the lake, I skid to a stop, my chest heaving with ragged breaths. The water churns and foams around me, sending waves crashing against my legs. I know I need to get out of here, to find someplace safe where I can catch my breath and plan my next move. But where can I go? The tower is collapsing, the shore is crawling with monsters, and Varikka...Varikka is gone. A sob rises in my throat, but I swallow it down, forcing myself to focus on survival. I scan the area, my eyes darting from one potential escape route to the next. The collapsed tower looms behind me, its broken walls and crumbling roof a constant reminder of the danger I'm in. To my left, the shore stretches out into the distance, a rocky expanse dotted with jagged boulders and twisted trees. And to my right...to my right is the lake, its dark waters lapping at the shore like a hungry beast waiting to devour me whole. I take a deep breath, trying to calm the frantic pounding of my heart. I need to think, to plan my next move with care. But it's hard to focus when every instinct is screaming at me to run, to flee as far and as fast as I can from this nightmare place. I close my eyes, letting out a slow breath as I try to still the tremors that wrack my body. Varikka...I whisper her name like a prayer, a silent promise to make things right, to find some way to honor her memory in this hellish place. And then, with a newfound sense of determination, I open my eyes and turn to face the unknown, ready to face whatever horrors await me in the depths of this ancient, unforgiving lake. I stare out at the water, my heart pounding in my chest. The creatures' hellish eyes glow brighter, their forms rippling and twisting just beneath the surface. Suddenly, a tentacle lashes out, barely missing my leg as I jump back into the water. The lake's surface churns and foams, sending waves crashing against my chest. I know I need to act fast, but I'm not sure what to do. Varikka is trapped in the depths of this lake, surrounded by those terrifying creatures. And I have no idea how to reach her without putting myself in danger as well. But I can't just stand here and do nothing. Varikka is my friend, and I owe it to her to try and save her from whatever horrors await her in the depths of this cursed place. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what must be done. And then, with a sense of grim determination, I start to move forward into the water, my feet carrying me toward whatever horrors await me in the depths of this ancient, forsaken lake.
