Merrin's legs kicked wildly as the tentacle's grip held her in place, Varikka's desperate eyes locked onto hers. The water churned around them, waves crashing against Merrin's chest as she strained to free herself. One of the glowing-eyed creatures darted forward, its claws raking across her cheek and drawing a gasp of pain and rage from her throat. She thrashed wildly, fighting against the tentacle's unyielding grip.

"NO! I won't let you take her!" Merrin cried out, her voice echoing off the cavern walls.
