As Merrin lifts the lid of the box, a blinding flash of light erupts from within, and the air around her seems to distort and ripple. The glowing symbols on the walls of the cavern pulse with increased intensity, casting eerie shadows that seem to writhe and twist in time with the light. When the flash fades, Merrin finds herself facing a small, ornate mirror that has appeared on the surface of the water. The mirror's surface is smooth and unbroken, reflecting the cavern's darkness like a still pond. However, as Merrin gazes into its depths, she sees a vision of Varikka trapped in the lake's depths, surrounded by the tentacled horror and the glowing-eyed creatures.

A chill runs down my spine as I gaze into the mirror's depths, the vision of Varikka trapped in the lake's depths sending a wave of icy fear through my veins. The tentacled horror and glowing-eyed creatures swarm around her, their hellish forms twisting and writhing in the water. I can see the desperation in Varikka's eyes, the raw determination as she struggles against the creatures' grip. But it's clear that she's outmatched, that the horrors of this place are too powerful for any one person to face alone. I glance around the cavern, searching for anything that might help me reach Varikka. But the chamber is empty, save for the strange box and the pool of water at its center. I know I should be cautious, that opening that box is likely to unleash something terrible into the world. But I also know that I can't leave Varikka to die alone in this place. She's my friend, my comrade-in-arms, and I owe it to her to try and save her from whatever horrors await her in the depths of this cursed lake. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what must be done. And then, with a sense of dread and determination, I turn away from the mirror and start to move toward the cavern's entrance. The air around me seems to thicken as I draw closer to the door, the walls closing in on me like a tomb. But I push forward, my feet carrying me through the darkness and into the unknown. As I emerge from the cavern, I find myself standing at the edge of a vast, underground lake. The water stretches out before me, its surface as still and dark as a mirror. In the distance, I can see the faint glow of the creatures' eyes, their hellish forms twisting and writhing beneath the surface. I know that I'm taking a risk by coming here, that the horrors of this place are likely to be beyond anything I've ever faced before. But I also know that I have no choice. Varikka needs me, and I won't abandon her to die alone in this cursed lake. So I take a deep breath, my hand reaching for the crossbow slung across my back. And then, with a sense of grim determination, I start to move forward into the water, my feet carrying me toward whatever horrors await me in the depths of this ancient, forsaken place.
