Round 240 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin steps into the darkness of the cave, the glowing-eyed creatures close in around her, their bioluminescent markings casting eerie shadows on the walls. She can feel a malevolent presence lurking just out of sight, and the air is thick with the stench of decay and corruption. The creatures' eyes fix menacingly on Merrin, and she knows she must act quickly to avoid becoming their next victims. Suddenly, the ground beneath her gives way, and Merrin finds herself sliding down a hidden chute, the creatures mere inches from her face. She tumbles through the darkness, her senses reeling, and emerges into a new chamber filled with the stench of rotting flesh. The room is small, with walls covered in ancient carvings that seem to pulse with a malevolent energy.
I look around frantically for any means of escape from the creatures closing in. My eyes land on a faint glimmer of light coming from somewhere ahead. It's too far away to reach, but it might be my only chance at survival. I take a deep breath and swim towards it as fast as I can, the tentacles still dragging me down. Suddenly, a massive chunk of rubble crashes down from above, sending debris swirling around me. I feel the key slip from my pocket in the chaos, lost to the churning water. The creatures circle even closer, their tentacles reaching out to ensnare me once more. With a burst of strength born of desperation, I lash out with my foot, connecting with one of the creature's faces. It lets out an unearthly shriek and retreats slightly, giving me a precious moment to breathe. But there's no time to rest. The water is rising even faster now, and I can feel the tower shaking around us as it nears collapse. I look around frantically for anything that might help me escape this nightmare. My hand brushes against a piece of rubble and I grab it, using it as a makeshift weapon to beat at the tentacles. The creatures hiss and retreat slightly, but the tentacles remain firmly wrapped around my waist. I take another desperate look around, searching for anything that could help me escape this watery prison. And that's when I see it - a faint glimmer of light coming from somewhere ahead, just barely visible through the churning water. It's too far away to reach, but it might be my only chance at survival. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I know I must do. With a final surge of strength, I rip free from the tentacles' grasp and swim as hard as I can towards that distant light. The creatures shriek behind me, their hellish eyes boring into my back as I swim. But I don't look back. I can't afford to. The water is murky, and I can't see anything beneath the surface.
