Round 236 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin swims towards the metallic object, she feels the tentacles' grip tighten around her waist once more. Her hand closes around the small rusty key, and she quickly shoves it into a pocket, using the brief respite to drink from a waterskin. The creatures, sensing her newfound resourcefulness, surge forward, their hellish eyes fixed on her. Merrin takes a deep breath, preparing for another desperate bid for freedom. As she swims, the water around her churns with debris and the creatures' frenzied movements. She spots a glimmer of light ahead and makes a beeline for it, the tentacles still dragging her down. Suddenly, a glowing-eyed creature emerges from the darkness, its bioluminescent markings illuminating the water as it lunges at Merrin. The key in her pocket glints in the faint light, and Merrin knows she must act fast to escape the creature's deadly grasp. The water around them begins to churn violently, and a massive chunk of rubble crashes down from above, sending debris swirling around Merrin and the creatures. The key slips from her pocket, lost in the chaos.
I feel my lungs burning for air as I struggle against the tentacles' grip. The creatures circle closer, their hellish eyes glowing in the darkness. I know I must act fast - the water is rising rapidly, and the tower could come down at any moment. I frantically search my pockets for anything that might help me escape this watery tomb. My fingers close around a small, rusty key - the one I found earlier in the tower. With a desperate grunt, I shove it into the tentacle's grasp, feeling it loosen slightly. I twist and wriggle, fighting to free myself from its deadly embrace. She knows she must fight back with everything she has if she wants to survive this nightmare. With a burst of strength born of desperation, Merrin lashes out with her foot, connecting with the creature's face. It lets out an unearthly shriek and retreats slightly, giving Merrin a precious moment to breathe. But there's no time to rest. The water is rising even faster now, and Merrin can feel the tower shaking around them as it nears collapse. She looks around frantically for anything that might help her escape this nightmare. Her hand brushes against a piece of rubble and she grabs it, using it as a makeshift weapon to beat at the tentacles. The creatures hiss and retreat slightly, but the tentacles remain firmly wrapped around Merrin's waist. I look around desperately for any means of escape. My eyes land on a faint glimmer of light coming from somewhere ahead. It's too far away to reach, but it might be my only chance at survival.
