As I watch Varikka struggle to find a way around the rising water, the tentacled horror lunges forward, its massive tentacles snaking towards us. I leap to the side, avoiding its grasp by mere inches. The creature's eyes burn with an otherworldly intensity as it fixes me with a deadly stare. Suddenly, a faint glow emanates from the depths of the Devourer's maw, illuminating a narrow opening just large enough for Varikka to squeeze through. However, the water continues to rise, threatening to engulf us both. Immediate pressure: Varikka must decide whether to attempt to squeeze through the opening or find an alternative route, while I must decide how to distract the tentacled horror long enough for her to escape.

I crouch low, my heart pounding in my chest as I watch Varikka struggle to find a way through the rising water. The tentacled horror looms over us, its eyes burning with an otherworldly intensity as it fixes me with a deadly stare. I know we're running out of time, but I also know that we can't afford to rush into this blindly.

Suddenly, a faint glow emanates from the depths of the Devourer's maw, illuminating a narrow opening just large enough for Varikka to squeeze through. However, the water continues to rise, threatening to engulf us both.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I know I must do. With a nod to Varikka, I step forward, my dagger at the ready. "Go," I hiss, my voice barely audible over the rushing water. "I'll hold it off as long as I can."

Varikka's eyes meet mine, her expression grim. "Be careful," she says, her voice trembling. With that, she turns and begins to squeeze through the opening, her body straining against the narrow confines.

As soon as Varikka is through, I whirl around to face the tentacled horror, my dagger at the ready. The creature lunges forward, its massive tentacles snaking towards me with a sickening hiss. I leap to the side, avoiding its grasp by mere inches. The water laps at my feet, rising higher with each passing moment, but I push the fear down, focusing solely on the creature before me.

This is it, then. The final showdown. And may the gods help us all if we fail.
