As Varikka frantically searches for a way to escape, the glowing-eyed creatures close in, their bioluminescent markings illuminating the water around them. She manages to fend off the initial assault with her torch, but there are too many of them, and she knows she won't be able to hold out for long. The Devourer of Light's roar grows louder, and the ground trembles beneath Varikka's feet as a massive stone slab crashes down from the ceiling, landing mere feet away from her and Seraphine. The blast sends Varikka stumbling backward, her torch flying from her hand. She struggles to regain her balance, but the water is rising fast, and she knows she needs to act quickly if she wants to save herself and Seraphine. She spots a small opening in the wall, partially hidden by the rushing water, and makes a split-second decision to dash towards it, hoping to find a way out of the lake before the creatures catch up.

I push forward through the rising water, my lungs burning for air as I swim towards the distant shore. The weight of my soaked clothes drags me down, but I fight against it, driven by sheer desperation to escape this watery grave.

As I draw nearer, I can make out Varikka and Seraphine on the rocky bank, illuminated by the faint glow of a torch. They seem to be in some sort of standoff with a group of creatures that have emerged from the depths, their bioluminescent markings pulsing ominously in the darkness.

I reach for the iron bar I had been carrying, but it's gone, lost somewhere in the churning water behind me. I'm left with only my wits and whatever weapons I can scavenge from the ruins of the tower around us.

As I pull myself up onto the shore, I see Seraphine frantically searching for a way out, her eyes fixed on an ancient symbol etched into the stone wall. Varikka is using a torch to fend off the creatures, but there are too many of them, and I can see the exhaustion in her movements, her strength waning as the water rises around us.

I know we need to act fast if we want to survive this, but with each passing moment, the odds seem to be stacked against us. The tower is collapsing around us, the water rising faster than we can find a way out, and now these creatures have joined the fray, their intentions unclear but their numbers growing by the second.

I reach for my crossbow, my fingers fumbling with the mechanism in my exhaustion. I take aim at one of the creatures, my heart pounding in my chest as I wait for the moment to strike.
