As I hold up the torch, its flickering light casts eerie shadows on the walls, and I can feel Seraphine's eyes locked onto mine. She tries to speak again, but the water chokes out her words once more. The sound of scuttling creatures grows louder, and I can feel the ground trembling beneath our feet. Suddenly, a loud creaking noise echoes through the chamber, followed by the unmistakable rumble of falling debris. The Devourer of Light's roar grows louder, its malevolent presence closing in around us like a shroud. The torchlight illuminates an ancient symbol etched into the stone, pulsating with a faint, eerie energy. I can feel a strange power emanating from it, but what does it mean? I glance at Seraphine, and she nods weakly, her eyes fixed on the symbol. The water continues to rise around us, creeping up our legs as we stand there, frozen in fear. As I consider the symbol's meaning, I hear a faint splashing sound coming from deeper within the chamber. It's Merrin, trying to find a way out. But she's not alone – the tentacled horror is with her, its grasping tentacles wrapping around her waist. The creature's gaze locks onto us, and it begins to pull Merrin towards us, as if to bring her closer to the Devourer of Light. Do you try to rescue Merrin, or focus on deciphering the ancient symbol?

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

As I wade through the frigid water, my teeth chattering violently, I can feel the ground trembling beneath my feet. The sound of scuttling creatures grows louder, and a loud creaking noise echoes through the chamber. I glance around frantically, looking for any sign of an escape route, but all I see are the swirling shadows cast by the flickering torch and the ominous glow of the ancient carvings on the walls.

Suddenly, a loud splashing sound draws my attention to the deeper depths of the chamber. It's Merrin, trying to find a way out. But she's not alone – the tentacled horror is with her, its grasping tentacles wrapping around her waist. The creature's gaze locks onto mine, and it begins to pull Merrin towards me, as if to bring her closer to the Devourer of Light.

I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "Seraphine," I call out, my voice echoing off the stone walls. "We need to help Merrin!"

But Seraphine is frozen in fear, her eyes fixed on the ancient symbol etched into the stone. She nods weakly, but makes no move to help Merrin.

The water continues to rise around us, creeping up our legs as we stand there, paralyzed by terror. The sound of scuttling creatures grows louder, and I can feel the ground trembling beneath my feet. Suddenly, a loud creaking noise echoes through the chamber, followed by the unmistakable rumble of falling debris.

The Devourer of Light's roar grows louder, its malevolent presence closing in around us like a shroud. We have to move, but where? The torchlight illuminates the ancient symbol pulsating with a faint, eerie energy, and I can feel a strange power emanating from it. But what does it mean?

I glance at Seraphine, who is struggling against the water, her robes clinging to her body like a second skin. She tries to speak again, but all that comes out is a choked gurgle.

I wade closer to her through the frigid water. "Seraphine, what are you trying to tell me?" I ask, my voice trembling with fear. "Can you decipher the symbols on the wall? Or do you have another plan for getting us out of here?"

The torchlight flickers across the ancient carvings, casting long, ominous shadows across the room. The ground trembles beneath our feet, and a loud creaking noise echoes through the chamber – the Devourer of Light is drawing near, its malevolent presence closing in around us like a shroud.

We have to move, but where? The water continues to rise, threatening to sweep us away into the depths of this underwater tomb. And if we can't find a way out soon, we may be doomed to drown here in the darkness, suffocated by the rising tide.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I struggle against the rising water, my robes clinging heavily to my body. The sound of Merrin's splashing grows louder, more desperate, as the tentacled horror drags her closer. But Seraphine remains frozen, her eyes fixed on the ancient symbol etched into the stone wall.

"I can't decipher it right now!" I call out to her, my voice strained with panic. "Merrin is in trouble! We have to help her first!"

I wade towards where Merrin was being pulled, trying to keep my balance against the current and my own exhaustion. The water is rising fast, threatening to sweep me off my feet at any moment. But I can't just stand here while Merrin drowns.

The Devourer of Light's roar grows louder, its malevolent presence pressing down on us like a physical weight. The ground trembles beneath my feet, and I can feel the chamber shaking around us. Suddenly, a section of the ceiling collapses, sending a shower of debris into the water around me.

I scream as a heavy stone smashes against my shoulder, knocking me off balance. I flail in the water, trying to right myself, but the current is too strong. I feel my body being pulled under, the frigid water filling my mouth and nose. My lungs burn with the need for air, and my vision begins to darken at the edges.

"Seraphine!" I manage to choke out before the water closes over my head. "Help me!"

I struggle against the water, my arms and legs flailing wildly as I try to push myself back to the surface. But it's no use. The current is too powerful, pulling me deeper into the abyss. I catch a final glimpse of Seraphine standing on the shore, her form growing smaller and more distant with each passing second. And then, everything goes black.
