Round 189 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we wade through the water, the cold seeps into our bones. I can feel my vision blurring, and I know we need to find a way out soon. The water rises up to my waist now, and I strain to see anything beyond the swirling darkness. Suddenly, a faint glow catches my eye - a small, flickering torch on the wall, just out of reach. It's our only hope for light in this underwater tomb.
I splash through the frigid water, my teeth chattering violently. The cold is seeping into my very bones, making it hard to think straight. But I force myself to focus, scanning the walls for any sign of an escape route. That's when I see it - a small, flickering torch on the wall, just out of reach. It's our only hope for light in this underwater tomb. I take a deep breath and lunge forward, reaching out with my mace to try to snag the torch from its sconce. The metal clangs against the stone as I struggle to dislodge it, my fingers numb and clumsy from the cold. But finally, with a triumphant yank, the torch comes free. I hold it up high, casting flickering shadows on the walls around us. In the dancing light, I can see Seraphine struggling against the water, her robes clinging to her body like a second skin. She's trying to say something, but all that comes out is a choked gurgle. I wade closer, trying to make out her words over the sound of the rushing water. "Seraphine?" I call out, my voice echoing off the stone walls. "What are you trying to tell me?"
She points a shaking finger at the alcove we just emerged from, her eyes wide with fear. And that's when I remember - the ancient carvings on the wall, the ones that seemed to pulse with a faint, eerie glow. I turn back to look at the opening, my heart sinking as I realize what she's trying to say. The Devourer of Light... it's coming for us. And we're trapped in this underwater tomb with no way out. I glance around frantically, looking for any sign of a hidden passage or secret door. But all I see are the swirling shadows cast by the flickering torch, and the ominous glow of the ancient carvings on the walls. We're running out of time. The water is rising fast, threatening to sweep us away into the depths of this underwater tomb. And if we can't find a way out soon, we may be doomed to drown here in the darkness, suffocated by the rising tide. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "We need to keep moving," I call out to Seraphine, my voice echoing off the stone walls. "There has to be a way out of here somewhere."
I start to wade through the water again, my mace held high above my head as I scan the walls for any sign of an escape route. The cold is still seeping into my bones, but I push forward, determined to find a way out before it's too late. The torchlight flickers across the ancient carvings on the walls, casting long, ominous shadows across the room. And in the distance, I can hear the sound of scuttling creatures coming from the depths of the lake, their bioluminescent markings casting an otherworldly glow on the water. We're not alone in this underwater tomb. And if we don't find a way out soon, we may become just another victim of the Devourer of Light's insatiable hunger. I take a deep breath and push forward, my mace held at the ready as I scan the walls for any sign of an escape route. The water is up to my waist now, and I can feel the cold seeping into my very bones. But I force myself to keep moving, determined to find a way out before it's too late. As I wade through the water, my eyes scan the walls for any sign of a hidden passage or secret door. The ancient carvings pulse with a faint, eerie glow, and I can't shake the feeling that they're trying to tell us something. But what? And how do we decipher their cryptic message before it's too late? I glance over at Seraphine, who is struggling to push herself up from the wall, her robes clinging to her body like a second skin. She's trying to say something, but all that comes out is a choked gurgle.
