Round 188 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we squeeze through the narrow opening, I can hear the Devourer of Light's roar growing louder, its malevolent presence closing in around us. The tentacled horror holding Seraphine releases its grip, and she tumbles to the ground, gasping for breath. The water continues to rise, threatening to engulf us at any moment. We find ourselves in a small, dimly lit chamber, the walls lined with ancient carvings that seem to pulse with a faint, eerie glow. The air is thick with the stench of decay and corruption. I can hear the sound of scuttling creatures coming from the depths of the lake, their bioluminescent markings casting an otherworldly light on the water. Suddenly, the ground beneath us gives a violent lurch, and the chamber begins to flood. The water rises fast, threatening to sweep us away. We have to act quickly to find a way out before we're trapped forever in this underwater tomb.
I feel the icy water rising up my legs as we squeeze through the narrow opening, my heart pounding in my chest. The air is thick with the stench of decay and corruption, and I can hear the scuttling of unseen creatures coming from the depths of the lake. I glance around frantically, trying to get my bearings in the dimly lit chamber, but it's hard to see anything through the swirling water.
Seraphine is struggling to her feet, coughing and sputtering as she tries to catch her breath. I reach out a hand to steady her, my mace still gripped tightly in my other hand. "Are you alright?" I ask, my voice barely audible over the sound of the rising water.
She nods weakly, but I can see the fear in her eyes. We're trapped, with no way out and no idea what horrors might be lurking in the depths of this underwater tomb. The ground beneath us gives another violent lurch, and I feel a wave of dread wash over me as I realize that we may be doomed to die here, suffocated by the rising water.
I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. We can't give up now. There has to be a way out, some hidden passage or secret door that we can use to escape this nightmare. I turn to Seraphine, my voice urgent. "We need to keep moving. There has to be a way out of here somewhere."
I start to wade through the water, my mace held high above my head as I scan the walls for any sign of an exit. The water is up to my waist now, and I can feel the cold seeping into my bones. But I push forward, determined to find a way out before it's too late.
I stumble against the wall, gasping for air as the water chokes out my breath. My head feels heavy, filled with a strange, suffocating pressure. The cold seeps deep into my bones, making it hard to think straight. Merrin's voice seems to come from far away, a faint echo in my ears.
I can see her now, her form blurred by the swirling water, her mace held high above her head as she scans the walls for an escape route. Seraphine struggles to push herself up, her robes clinging to her body like a second skin. The ancient carvings on the walls pulse with a faint, eerie glow, casting long, ominous shadows across the room. I try to call out to Merrin, to tell her what I saw in the alcove, but my mouth is filled with water and all that comes out is a choked gurgle.
