Round 174 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's voice echoes through the water, "Varikka! Seraphine! Follow me!" The water churns around them as they dash towards the secret passage, the tentacled horror mere feet behind. As they approach the entrance, a massive wave crashes against the barrier, threatening to overwhelm it entirely. The ground shudders violently, and Varikka stumbles backwards, her grip on Seraphine's arm tenuous. Suddenly, a glowing-eyed creature darts out from the depths, its bioluminescent markings illuminating the water as it charges towards Seraphine. The water closes in around them, the current pulling them towards the center of the lake where the creatures are gathering. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the lake's surface begins to churn with increased intensity.
As I plunge into the water, my body is wracked with pain from the cold assaulting my senses. The tentacled horror lunges forward, its massive body breaching the surface mere feet behind me as I race towards the secret passage. My heart pounds in my chest, adrenaline surging through my veins as I fight against the current pulling me back towards the center of the lake.
The water churns around me, the sound of rushing water growing louder with every passing second. I can feel the creatures' hunger, their rage at being denied their prey. But I have no choice. I must reach that passage, must find a way to escape this nightmare before it's too late.
As I near the entrance, a massive wave crashes against the barrier, threatening to overwhelm it entirely. The ground shudders violently beneath my feet, and I stumble forward, my hands grasping at the rocky walls for support. I can hear Varikka and Seraphine behind me, their voices echoing through the water as they struggle to hold off the creatures.
With a final burst of strength, I pull myself into the secret passage, my body trembling from the cold and exertion. I turn back towards the entrance, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I try to catch my breath. Varikka and Seraphine are there, their faces etched with fear and determination as they fight off the tentacled horror.
"Varikka!" I call out, my voice strained with urgency. "Seraphine! Hurry, get inside!"
I can see the tentacled horror lunging forward, its massive bulk blotting out the faint light from the creatures' bioluminescent markings. The water is rising rapidly now, swirling around our knees with a vengeance. Every step feels like wading through molasses, my muscles screaming with effort as I struggle to remain upright.
I know we're racing against time, against the creatures, and against the rising tide itself. But I also know that if we stay here, we'll be swept away for sure. We need to move, to find higher ground or someplace safe where we can regroup and plan our next move.
With a final, desperate glance at the secret passage where Merrin disappeared, I plunge into the water, my body wracked with pain as the cold assaults my senses. The tentacled horror lunges forward, its massive body breaching the surface, and I know that we are racing against time, against the creatures, and against the rising tide itself.
