As the stone slab crashes shut, the ground beneath them shudders, and the air is filled with the sound of grinding rock. The rising tide recedes slightly, but the water level remains perilously close to the newly created barrier. Varikka's face sets in determination as she scans their surroundings. "We need to find a way to reinforce this area," she says, her voice firm. Seraphine nods, her eyes darting towards the glowing-eyed creatures still circling the water's edge. "I can try to scry a solution, but we're running out of time." She raises her hands, and the air around her begins to shimmer as she focuses her magic. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the ground shudders again, this time more violently. The party's grip on the slab falters, and they stumble forward, their feet sliding on the slick stone. The creatures' bioluminescent markings pulse brighter, illuminating the water's surface as they sense the party's weakness. Varikka grabs onto Seraphine, holding her steady as the wizard struggles to maintain the barrier. "We need to act fast," Varikka urges, her voice laced with urgency. "Can you find a way to stabilize this area, or do we need to find another solution?"

I keep my eyes peeled on the creatures while Seraphine works her magic, my hand gripping the hilt of my mace tightly. The ground continues to tremble beneath our feet, and I can feel the slab shifting slightly as the water presses against it from below. "Seraphine," I call out, my voice strained with urgency. "How much longer do you need?" I ask, glancing over at the wizard. She shakes her head, her brow furrowed in concentration. "I don't know," she replies, her voice tight. "This magic is... unpredictable." I nod, understanding the risk we're taking. "Varikka," I say, turning to face the warrior. "We need to be ready to move at a moment's notice. If this barrier fails, we'll need to find another way out of here." Varikka nods, her expression grim. "I understand," she says, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. "We'll hold the line as long as we can." I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. The creatures continue to circle, their bioluminescent markings pulsing in the darkness. This is it, I think, my grip tightening on my mace. This is where we make our stand.
