Round 150 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin swings the heavy mace at the tentacle, it recoils with a loud crack, releasing Varikka from its grip. She surfaces beside Merrin, gasping for air, but the water continues to rise, threatening to engulf them both. The sound of rushing water and crashing debris grows louder, and the ground beneath them begins to shake more violently. Suddenly, the wall of the tower behind them gives way, sending a massive chunk of stone plummeting towards the lake. The impact creates a massive wave that threatens to sweep Merrin and Varikka away, and they're forced to cling to each other for dear life. The tentacle re-emerges from the depths, its writhing form now heading straight for them. "Merrin, we have to get out of here, now!" Seraphine shouts, her voice barely audible above the din of the collapsing tower.
I grab Varikka's arm, pulling her towards me as I try to keep us both afloat in the churning water. The tentacle is coming back, its writhing form heading straight for us. "Varikka!" I shout over the din of the collapsing tower. "We have to get out of here, now!"
I look around frantically, searching for any means of escape. My eyes land on a small ledge above the waterline, just out of reach. It's our only hope. "Seraphine!" I call out, pointing to the ledge. "There! We have to climb out of the water!"
I swim towards the ledge with desperate strokes, my robes heavy and cumbersome in the icy water. The current is getting stronger by the second, threatening to sweep me away at any moment. I reach the base of the ledge and try to pull myself up, but my fingers slip on the slick stone. Come on, come on! I grunt with effort, my muscles burning as I heave myself upwards. I can't fail now. Not when we're so close to escaping this nightmare. I finally manage to haul myself onto the ledge, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I reach down for Varikka, grabbing her hand and pulling with all my might. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice hoarse from exertion. "Give me your other hand! I've got you!"
As I watch Varikka struggle to climb onto the ledge, a cold dread settles deep within me. This is it. This is how we die, lost and alone in the depths of some forgotten dungeon. But I refuse to accept that fate. We came here for a reason, with a purpose. And if we have to fight our way out of this hellhole, then so be it. We can't give up now, I think as I pull Varikka's hand towards me with all my strength. Not when we've come this far.
