Phase: escalating

The lake swallowed them whole. The water crashed down like a tidal wave, filling the chamber with a roar that shook the very foundation. Merrin and Varikka vanished beneath the surface, consumed by the sudden flood. The current was relentless, pulling at everything in its path.
Merrin fought against it, her grip on the iron bar the only thing keeping her from being swept away entirely. She could barely see through the churning water, but she knew one thing—Varikka was still out there somewhere, and she had to find her before it was too late. By all the gods, we're going under! The thought screamed in her head as the icy water closed over them both.
The halfling struggled against the current, her small size offering little protection from the elements. Every muscle burned with exertion as she tried to move through the water, searching for any sign of her friend. I watch in horror as Merrin struggles to keep hold of Varikka, her arm straining against the force of the water. The weight of the bar was almost too much, dragging her down despite her best efforts.
They need help, but I can't even move without risking losing my own grip! Panic clawed at her throat as she realized how vulnerable they truly were. The water was freezing, stealing what little warmth remained in her limbs. She needed to find dry ground soon or hypothermia would set in fast.
I'm coming for you, Varikka! Merrin thought desperately, her lungs burning for air as she continued to search through the murky depths. Just hold on—
Merrin
