As Merrin swings her mace at the creature's head, she misses entirely, striking instead the pile of rubble nearby. The sound echoes through the chamber, drowned out moments later by the roar of rushing water. The creature tightens its grip on Varikka's waist, pulling her closer to the water's edge. Seraphine struggles to pick herself up from the rubble pile, her movements slow and uncoordinated. The ground beneath Merrin's feet shifts ominously as she takes another step forward, and a nearby boulder dislodges from the tunnel ceiling, crashing down onto the creature's head with a sickening crunch. The creature shrieks, its bioluminescent markings pulsing with renewed intensity. Varikka's face contorts in pain and fear as she tries to struggle free, her feet scrabbling for purchase on the slick stone ledge. Immediate pressure: Seraphine must act quickly to reach Varikka before she is dragged into the depths of the lake.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Shit shit shit! I miss again, my mace clanging uselessly off the rubble. Varikka's struggling gets frantic, her face twisted in agony as the creature drags her towards the water. Seraphine's still trying to pick herself up, but she's moving like a drunk octopus. My heart pounds against my ribs as I watch them, fear and desperation choking me. Think Merrin, think! My eyes dart around the chamber, landing on the rusted iron bar half-buried in the rubble. It's not much, but it might be enough to get Varikka free if I can just reach her. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I have to do. "Seraphine!" I shout, my voice barely audible over the chaos. "I'm coming!"

I lunge forward, my mace raised high over my head. The ground shifts ominously beneath my feet as I take another step, and a nearby boulder dislodges from the tunnel ceiling, crashing down onto the creature's head with a sickening crunch. The creature shrieks, its bioluminescent markings pulsing with renewed intensity. I falter for a moment, my heart leaping into my throat as I watch the creature's movements slow. But then I see Varikka, still struggling against its grip, her face contorted in pain and fear. I can't let her die here, not like this. Gritting my teeth, I take another step forward, my mace swinging down in a powerful arc aimed at the creature's head. "Let's see how you like this," I mutter through gritted teeth, my muscles tensing as I prepare to strike. Please let this work, I think, as I watch the mace descend towards the creature's skull. Please let me save her.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I watch in horror as Merrin swings her mace at the creature's head, but she misses entirely, striking instead the pile of rubble nearby. The sound echoes through the chamber, drowned out moments later by the roar of rushing water. I see Varikka struggling against the creature's grip, her face twisted in pain and fear as it drags her closer to the water's edge. My own body feels heavy and sluggish from my fall into the water, every movement a battle against the exhaustion that clings to me like a second skin.
My mind races, trying to think of a way to help Varikka before she is pulled under completely. The creature's bioluminescent markings pulse with an eerie light, seeming to call out to her, drawing her in with an irresistible force. I try to push myself up off the ground, my arms shaking with the effort, but my muscles feel like lead weights.
Then I see it - the rusted iron bar half-buried in the rubble. It's not much, but it might be enough to get Varikka free if Merrin can just reach her. "Merrin!" I call out, my voice hoarse and weak from the water I swallowed earlier. I point a trembling finger towards the bar. "There! Use that!"
I take a shaky step forward, trying to steady myself against a nearby wall, but the ground beneath my feet shifts ominously. A nearby boulder dislodges from the tunnel ceiling, crashing down onto the creature's head with a sickening crunch. The creature shrieks, its bioluminescent markings pulsing with renewed intensity. Varikka's face contorts in agony as she tries to struggle free, her feet scrabbling for purchase on the slick stone ledge. The water level continues to rise, now lapping at my ankles, threatening to sweep us all away.
The creature seems to be weakening, its grip on Varikka loosening slightly. This is our chance. "Merrin," I gasp out, my lungs burning with the effort of speaking. "Now!"
