Round 138 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Seraphine gasps for air on the narrow ledge, her lungs burning from holding her breath underwater for so long. She shivers violently in the frigid air, her eyes fixed on Merrin and Varikka as they struggle against the creature's tentacles in the water below. The bioluminescent markings of the creature pulse with an otherworldly energy, hypnotizing Seraphine into a grim determination to reach her friends. She spots a series of ledges high above the waterline and begins to climb out of the pit trap, her fingers scrabbling for purchase on the rough stone face.
I stagger through the tunnel, my heart pounding in my chest as I try to process everything that's happened. Varikka is gone, swallowed whole by that monstrous creature, its tentacles tightening around her like a vise before dragging her back into the darkness. The memory of her scream still echoes in my mind, sending icy tendrils of fear through my veins. But there's no time to mourn now. I have to keep moving forward, have to find a way to survive this nightmare and emerge on the other side.
As I push deeper into the tunnel, the walls seem to close in around me, the air growing thick and heavy with the scent of damp earth and decay. The sound of rushing water fills my ears, the current growing stronger with each passing second. I know I should turn back, try to find a way to rescue Varikka or at least warn the others about what's happened. But the thought of facing that creature again, of seeing the fear and desperation in its eyes as it drags another victim into the darkness... it's too much to bear.
I press on, my hand gripping the hilt of my mace tightly as I scan the shadows for any sign of movement. The tunnel twists and turns ahead of me, the path growing increasingly treacherous with each step. At one point, the ground beneath my feet gives way entirely, sending me tumbling down a sharp incline before I manage to catch myself on a jutting outcropping of rock. I lie there for a moment, panting heavily as I try to catch my breath. But I can't stop now. I have to keep going, have to find a way through this nightmare and out the other side.
As I struggle to my feet, I hear a sound in the darkness ahead of me. It's a low, guttural growl, like the rumble of some great beast awakening from slumber. I freeze, my heart leaping into my throat as I strain my ears, trying to pinpoint the source of the noise. And then, out of the shadows, a pair of glowing eyes appear, fixed on me with a predatory intensity. The creature stalks closer, its form emerging from the darkness until it stands before me, a towering mass of writhing tentacles and pulsating flesh.
I raise my mace, my hands shaking as I prepare to face whatever horror this thing might be. But even as I do, I know deep down that I'm outmatched. This creature is unlike anything I've ever faced before, its power and strength far beyond my meager skills. And yet, I have no choice but to fight. To turn and run now would mean certain death, swallowed by the darkness of the tunnel and the relentless pursuit of this monstrous thing. So I stand my ground, my mace raised high as the creature lunges forward, its tentacles reaching out to ensnare me in their chilling grasp.
