Round 132 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin comes to, her head throbbing in pain as she lies on the rocky floor. The water pressure has subsided, but the chamber is still filled with the eerie glow of luminescent fungi. Varikka's voice echoes from somewhere deeper in the tunnel, calling out for help. Merrin's hand instinctively reaches for her mace, but her vision blurs and she feels herself slipping away.
I groan as I come to, my head throbbing in pain. The chamber is eerily silent now, the roar of the floodwaters faded into nothingness. I can see Varikka's body lying a few feet away from me, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths.
I struggle to my feet, my legs wobbling beneath me as I take a step towards her. But before I can reach her, a sudden movement catches my eye. It's coming from the shadows in the corner of the chamber, a flicker of something dark and sinister.
I grab my mace, my heart pounding in my chest as I watch the shadows shift and twist. And then, with a sickening roar, a massive creature emerges from the darkness, its tentacles lashing out towards Varikka's prone form.
I scream a warning, but it's too late. The tentacle wraps around her waist, pulling her towards the creature's gaping maw. I charge forward, my mace raised high, but the ground beneath me shifts, throwing me off balance. I stumble and fall, my weapon clattering to the floor a few feet away from me.
As I struggle to reach it, I can see Varikka's struggles growing weaker, her face contorted in pain as the creature's tentacles tighten around her. I know I have only moments to act before she is lost forever.
With a final burst of strength, I lunge for my mace, my fingers closing around the familiar handle. I swing it with all my might, aiming for the creature's head. The blow lands with a sickening crunch, and the beast recoils, its tentacles loosening their grip on Varikka.
I rush forward, pulling her away from the creature's reach and dragging her towards the tunnel entrance. We crawl through the narrow passage, the creature's enraged roars echoing behind us as we flee deeper into the darkness.
