As Merrin swims through the murky water, she feels a sudden tug on her rope, the 100 feet of it stretching taut as a fish darts past her head. She follows the rope to find herself in front of the illuminated rock formation, the passageway beckoning her deeper into the lake. The water pressure is increasing exponentially, and the structural collapse is getting closer, but Merrin knows she must act fast to find Seraphine. The passageway narrows as she swims through it, the walls glinting with bioluminescent markings that seem to pulse in rhythm with her heartbeat. Suddenly, a faint whispering echoes through the passageway, the words indistinguishable but the malevolent intent clear. Merrin's instincts scream at her to turn back, but she presses on, determined to find Seraphine and escape the lake before it's too late.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel a surge of icy fear as I watch Seraphine disappear beneath the water's surface. Without hesitation, I plunge into the inky blackness after her, fighting against the unforgiving current that threatens to pull me further away from shore.

But I can't afford to lose focus now. Not when Seraphine might still be out there, trapped or in danger. With a deep breath, I dive beneath the surface, my eyes straining against the darkness as I search for any sign of her.

It's hard to see anything in this murky water, but I can feel the current tugging at me, threatening to pull me further away from the shore. Suddenly, a faint glow emanates from a nearby rock formation, illuminating a narrow passageway that appears to lead deeper into the lake. My heart races as I realize this might be Seraphine's last hope for rescue.

However, the water pressure is increasing exponentially, and the structural collapse is getting closer. I must decide whether to follow the illuminated passageway or try to find another way back to the surface before it's too late.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I feel myself being pulled down into the dark depths of the lake, the cold water closing around me like a suffocating embrace. My lungs burn as I struggle to hold my breath, but the pressure is too great, and I can feel my vision starting to blur at the edges. Panic rises in my throat, a desperate urge to gasp for air that would only pull the water into my lungs.
Suddenly, a faint glow catches my eye through the murky water. It seems to be coming from deep within a narrow fissure in the rock wall of the lake floor, a sliver of light piercing the darkness. With a surge of hope, I kick my legs and push myself towards it, fighting against the current that tries to pull me away.
As I draw closer, I can see that the fissure is actually a small underwater cave, its walls glistening with strange, luminescent fungi. The air inside the cave seems clearer, less tainted by the water above. I take a deep, gasping breath, my lungs filling with sweet oxygen as I emerge from the depths of the lake.
The cave is not large, but it provides a temporary respite from the rising water and the collapsing structure above. I can hear the distant sounds of groaning stone and rushing water echoing through the tunnels, a constant reminder of the danger that awaits me if I stay too long. But for now, this small space feels like a sanctuary, a place where I can catch my breath and try to figure out what to do next.
I sit down on a smooth rock at the back of the cave, my head spinning with exhaustion and fear. Merrin is still out there, lost in the lake, and the thought of her facing whatever horrors lurk beneath the surface terrifies me more than anything else. I have to find a way to get back to her, to help her escape this nightmare before it's too late.
