As Merrin pushes herself through the churning water towards Seraphine, she feels a sudden jolt and her foot slips on a patch of smooth stone. She tumbles forward, her arms flailing wildly as she struggles to regain her balance. The water rushes past her, threatening to sweep her away, but she manages to grab hold of a nearby rock and pull herself back up. Seraphine, meanwhile, is fighting against the current, her eyes fixed on Merrin's voice as it echoes through the chamber. Seraphine's struggle becomes more intense as she's pulled towards the edge of the lake by the rising water. Her robes are soaked and heavy, making it difficult for her to move. She takes a deep breath and tries to swim towards Merrin, but the water is too strong, and she's swept away once again. As Merrin watches, helpless, Seraphine disappears beneath the surface, her screams muffled by the rushing water. The tentacle thrashes closer, its suckers leaving trails of muck and debris in its wake. Merrin knows they don't have much time left before Varikka is dragged down into the depths of the lake.

I feel my heart sink as Seraphine disappears beneath the churning waves. "Seraphine!" I scream, my voice drowned out by the roar of the collapsing tower. I know we don't have much time left before Varikka is dragged down into the depths of the lake. With a surge of adrenaline, I plunge back into the water, swimming with all my strength towards where I last saw the tentacle thrashing. The water is freezing, the current strong, but I force myself to push forward, my arms slicing through the waves. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice hoarse and strained. "Swim towards my voice! I'll find you!"

But as I swim, I feel the ground shifting beneath me, tilting at an unsettling angle. The tower groans ominously, its ancient stones creaking and shifting with each passing moment. I know we don't have much time left before the entire structure collapses, burying us all beneath its rubble. I take a deep breath and dive down into the depths of the lake, my eyes straining against the darkness. The water is murky, the visibility poor, but I force myself to keep searching, my lungs burning with the need for air. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice muffled by the water. "Hold on! Help is coming!"

But as I swim deeper into the lake, I feel a sudden jolt and my foot slips on a patch of smooth stone. I tumble forward, my arms flailing wildly as I struggle to regain my balance. The water rushes past me, threatening to sweep me away, but I manage to grab hold of a nearby rock and pull myself back up. As I surface, gasping for air, I see the tentacle thrashing through the water, its suckers leaving trails of muck and debris in its wake. Varikka's body is being pulled down into the depths, and I know we don't have much time left before she is lost forever. I take a deep breath and dive back down into the water, my arms slicing through the waves with growing strength. I know the odds are against us, but I also know that we cannot abandon our friend to this fate. With a surge of determination, I swim towards the tentacle, my hands reaching out to grab hold of its slimy surface. But as I do, I feel the ground shifting once again, and I know that the tower is on the verge of collapse. I have only one chance to save Varikka, and I must act quickly before it's too late.
