Round 109 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's mace clatters against the ground, and she scrambles to her feet, her eyes fixed on the tentacle. She knows she can't take it down with a single swing, but she also knows she can't let it drag Varikka under. As she pushes her way through the churning water towards Seraphine, she feels a surge of adrenaline and a deep sense of dread wash over her. The tower shudders violently, and the water surges forward once more, threatening to sweep Merrin away. Seraphine's eyes widen as Merrin approaches, her hands trembling as she reaches for a spell component pouch at her belt. "Merrin, wait!" she cries out, but her voice is drowned out by the roar of the collapsing tower. The water rushes past Merrin, cold and unforgiving, as she struggles to keep her balance. She feels a sudden jolt, and her foot slips on a patch of smooth stone, sending her tumbling forward.
I feel a surge of adrenaline as I push my way through the churning water towards Seraphine, my arms straining against the current. The tower groans ominously around us, its ancient stones creaking and shifting with each passing moment. As I near Seraphine, I see the fear in her eyes, the way her hands tremble as she reaches for a spell component pouch at her belt. "Merrin, wait!" she cries out, but her voice is drowned out by the roar of the collapsing tower. I feel a sudden jolt, and my foot slips on a patch of smooth stone, sending me tumbling forward. I throw my arms out to catch myself, but it's too late - I'm swept off my feet by the surging water, my head dipping below the surface as I struggle to stay afloat. As I emerge from beneath the waves, sputtering and gasping for air, I see Seraphine still struggling towards me, her robes tangling around her legs as she fights against the current. "Seraphine!" I call out, my voice hoarse and strained. "I'm here! Keep fighting!"
But even as I speak, I feel the water rushing past me, cold and unforgiving. The tower shudders violently, and I hear a deafening crack of stone somewhere in the depths of the chamber. I know we don't have much time left. With a surge of determination, I push myself up from the water, my arms trembling with exertion as I clamber to my feet. Seraphine is still struggling towards me, her face etched with fear and exhaustion. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice echoing through the chamber. "We're coming!"
But even as I speak, I know it may already be too late. The tentacle thrashes through the water, its suckers leaving trails of muck and debris in its wake. Varikka is still trapped beneath the surface, struggling against the creature's unseen force. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I know must come next. With a surge of adrenaline, I plunge into the water once more, my arms slicing through the churning waves as I swim towards where the tentacle last surfaced.
