Seraphine waded through the rising water, her elegant robes now heavy and sodden. "A reflection?" she mused, squinting at the parchment in the torchlight. "In water? That has to mean something about the lake itself." She glanced around the massive chamber, her sharp eyes scanning the surface of the dark water. "But what kind of gaze? What are we looking for?" The water lapped higher, now brushing her thighs. "And more importantly," she added, her voice tight with urgency, "how do we get Varikka away from that... thing... before it drags her under?"
