Round 89 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin steps into the passage, the water swirls around her ankles, cold and unforgiving. The blue glow from Seraphine's staff casts eerie shadows on the damp stone walls. Suddenly, a massive shape emerges from the darkness ahead, its presence making the ground tremble beneath Merrin's feet.
I freeze as a massive shape emerges from the darkness ahead, its presence making the ground tremble beneath my feet. The water swirls around my ankles, cold and unforgiving, threatening to sweep me off balance if I lose focus for even a moment. My heart races in my chest as I raise my mace, the cool metal slick with condensation in my suddenly damp palms. I know I should be moving faster, should be racing to find Varikka before it's too late, but the water slows me down, makes every movement a struggle. I can feel the weight of my weapon in my hand, the only thing keeping me grounded in this moment of pure terror. The blue glow from Seraphine's staff casts eerie shadows on the damp stone walls of the passage, illuminating the monstrous shape before me. It's easily twice my height, with a hunched, misshapen form that seems to writhe and shift in the flickering light. For a moment, I'm frozen in place, unable to move, unable to even breathe as the creature looms over me. Then, with a sudden burst of adrenaline, I force myself to take a step back, my feet sliding on the slick stones beneath the water. I know I should be running, should be putting as much distance between myself and this thing as possible, but I can't. Varikka is still out there somewhere, lost in the depths of this accursed place, and I won't abandon her. Not now, not when she needs me most. So instead, I raise my mace high, the metal catching the dim light from Seraphine's staff and reflecting it back in a dull, menacing glow. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I must do next. "Come on then, you ugly bastard," I mutter under my breath, my voice shaking only slightly. "Let's see what you've got."
And with that, I charge forward, my mace raised high, ready to meet whatever horrors await me in the depths of this unnatural passage.
