The tension in Massive underground lake with skeletal remains and glowing eyes (new secret passage revealed) tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I wade through the chest-deep water, my heart pounding in my ears. The sound of scraping stone echoes through the passage, growing louder with each step. I know I should be moving faster, should be racing to find Varikka before it's too late, but the water slows me down, makes every movement a struggle.

I can feel the weight of my mace in my hand, the cool metal slick with condensation. It's a small comfort, a reminder that I'm not completely defenseless against whatever horrors might lie ahead. But it's not enough. I need more than a weapon to face this unknown threat. I need a plan.

I rack my brain for any clue, any hint of what might be waiting for me in the depths of this passage. The scraping sound grows louder still, a low, ominous rumble that seems to vibrate right through my bones. Something is coming, something big and powerful and hungry. I can feel it in the air, in the way the water churns around my legs, in the way the ground trembles beneath my feet.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I might find. Then, with a final glance at the churning waters behind me, I press on, moving deeper into the passage. The air here is thick with dampness, heavy with the scent of stagnant water and something else, something ancient and unnatural. It fills my nostrils, my lungs, until I can taste it on my tongue, sharp and bitter and wrong.

I grip my mace tighter, the cool metal a small comfort against the cold water swirling around my legs. The blue glow emanating from Seraphine's staff casts eerie shadows on the damp stone walls, illuminating the passage just enough to see by. It feels inadequate now, a toy against the vast, unknowable power we've unleashed. But I can't dwell on it now—not with Varikka missing and likely in danger. I have to focus, have to think of a way to find her before it's too late.

As I move deeper into the passage, the sound of scraping stone grows louder, more insistent. The air here is thick with dampness, heavy with the scent of stagnant water and something else, something ancient and unnatural. I can feel the presence moving closer, its hot breath wafting towards me like a palpable force.

I take another step forward, the water swirling around my knees now. The current is strong here, pulling at my robes, threatening to sweep me off my feet if I lose my balance. But I press on, my resolve hardening with each step deeper into the passage. Whatever lies waiting in the darkness ahead, whatever monstrosity has claimed our friend, I will face it.

I mutter a quick prayer under my breath, a desperate plea to whatever gods might be listening. Then, with a final glance at the churning waters behind me, I wade deeper into the unknown. The scraping noise grows louder still, a low, ominous sound that seems to vibrate right through my bones. Something is coming. And I will be ready for it.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand frozen in the deepening water, my heart hammering against my ribs as the scraping sound grows louder still. The blue glow from my staff flickers, casting eerie shadows on the damp stone walls of the passage. Every instinct screams at me to turn back, to run as far away from this unnatural place as I can, but I know I can't abandon Varikka and Merrin. Not now, not when they need me most.

The water swirls around my calves, cold and unforgiving, threatening to sweep me off my feet if I lose my balance. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I must do next. With a final glance at the churning waters behind me, I wade deeper into the passage, my staff held out before me like a weapon.

I move cautiously, testing each step before committing my full weight to it. The current is strong here, pulling at my robes, threatening to drag me under if I let it. But I press on, driven by a desperate need to find my friends and get us all out of this accursed place alive.

The scraping sound grows louder with every passing moment, a low, ominous rumble that seems to vibrate right through my bones. It's coming from ahead, from the heart of the tower itself. Something ancient and powerful is awakening, something that has been slumbering for centuries in the depths of this place. And now it knows we're here.

I can feel its presence like a physical weight pressing down on me, a malevolent intelligence watching my every move. It fills the air, thick and cloying, making it hard to breathe. I know I should be afraid, but all I feel is a cold, clinical interest. This is what I came here for, isn't it? To study the forbidden magics of old, to unravel their secrets? But now that I'm face to face with the reality of it, I wonder if I was truly prepared for what I might find.

The passage narrows ahead, the walls closing in around me until they are nearly touching on either side. The water is up to my hips now, and I can feel its icy tendrils seeping into my bones. I slow my pace, my staff held at the ready, my eyes scanning the darkness ahead for any sign of movement. Whatever lies waiting in the depths of this passage, whatever monstrosity has claimed our friend, I will face it. For Varikka. For Merrin. And for the knowledge I seek.
