Round 78 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Since the GET request failed, let's try to resolve the situation manually. The platform creaks ominously beneath Merrin's feet as she struggles to maintain her balance. Varikka's grip on her wrist tightens, and together they fight their way back to the platform, clinging to its edges for dear life. The water is waist-deep now, and Merrin can feel the ground trembling beneath her feet with every passing second. As they pull themselves up, they notice that the creature's tentacles have retreated, momentarily clearing a path to the stone steps leading up the wall. However, as they begin their ascent, they hear a faint rustling in the darkness below. The sound grows louder, and suddenly, a group of glowing-eyed creatures emerge from the depths, their bioluminescent markings illuminating the water. The Lake Creatures have followed them, and they're closing in fast. Merrin and Varikka must act quickly to avoid becoming their next victims.
My breath catches in my throat as the platform beneath me shifts again, the wood groaning ominously. I can feel Varikka's grip on my wrist tighten, her fingers digging into my skin as she struggles to keep us both from being dragged back into the water. "We need to move," I hiss, my voice strained with effort as I pull myself up onto the platform, hauling Varikka along with me.
As soon as we're both on solid ground, I turn to face the stone steps leading up the wall. They're crumbling and unstable, but they're our only way out of this nightmare. The creature's tentacles have retreated for now, but I know it's only a matter of time before they come back. "Those steps look treacherous," I say, eyeing them warily. "But we don't have much choice."
Varikka nods, her face set with determination as she follows me towards the stairs. The water is still lapping at our feet, the cold seeping into my bones and chilling me to the core. But I push the discomfort aside, focusing instead on putting one foot in front of the other.
As we climb, the platform creaks and groans beneath us, the sound echoing through the cavernous space like a warning. I can feel the ground shifting with each step, as if the very structure of the tower is coming undone around us. "We need to hurry," I say, my voice urgent as I quicken my pace.
But just as we reach the top of the stairs, a new sound reaches my ears - a rustling, like dry leaves in the wind. And then, from the shadows, a group of glowing-eyed creatures emerge, their bioluminescent markings illuminating the water. "Varikka," I whisper, my voice trembling with fear. "We have company."
Varikka's eyes grow wide as she takes in the sight of the creatures, her hand instinctively moving to the hilt of her sword. But I know that weapon won't be enough against whatever these things are. We need a plan, and we need it fast. "What do we do?" she asks, her voice barely audible over the sound of the water rushing around us.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm the racing of my heart. I know we can't fight our way out of this - not with the creature still lurking in the depths and the entire tower coming down around us. "We need to find a way through," I say, my voice strained but determined. "There has to be another path, another exit."
Varikka nods, her eyes scanning the walls and ceiling for any sign of a hidden doorway or passage. But as we search, the creatures draw closer, their movements slow and deliberate, as if they know they have us cornered. "Merrin," Varikka whispers, her voice trembling with fear. "I don't think we're going to make it out of here alive."
I meet her gaze, seeing my own fear reflected back at me in the depths of her eyes. But even as the creatures close in, I know we can't give up. We've come too far, fought too hard, to let this be the end. "We'll find a way," I say, my voice fierce with determination. "No matter what it takes."
And with that, I turn back to the water, ready to face whatever horrors still lurk beneath the surface. Because in this moment, with death stalking us from all sides, there's only one choice left to make - and that's to keep moving forward, no matter where the path may lead.
