Round 70 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin reaches for the rope, the platform beneath her feet gives a ominous creak. The creature surges forward, its dark form mere inches from Merrin's face, causing her to stumble back. She catches herself against the stone slab, her heart racing as she looks down at Varika, still thrashing wildly in the churning water below. The water level has risen another foot since Merrin's last check, and the platform now teeters on the edge of collapse. The rumbling noise from the structural collapse grows louder, and the air is filled with the scent of dust and decay. A section of the wall nearby begins to crumble, sending rocks and debris tumbling into the water. Merrin must decide whether to risk untangling the rope or find another solution to save Varika before the platform collapses or the creature attacks.
I freeze as the platform shifts beneath my feet, the creature's dark form looming inches from my face. My heart hammers in my chest as I see Varikka thrashing wildly in the water below, still struggling against the tentacled horror's grip. The rope is just out of reach, tangled and knotted, but I know we don't have time to untie it. I glance around frantically, looking for another way to help her. The water level has risen another foot since my last check, and the platform teeters on the edge of collapse. A section of the wall nearby crumbles, sending rocks and debris tumbling into the churning water. I know we're running out of time, but I can't just stand here and watch Varikka be dragged under. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I'm about to do.
I watch in horror as Merrin teeters on the edge of the crumbling platform, the creature looming over her. Varikka is thrashing wildly in the water below, her struggles growing more frantic by the second. The rising water has almost reached the top of the platform, and I can feel the ground trembling beneath my feet. We’re running out of time.
My mind races as I try to think of a way to help them. The rope is tangled, and there’s no time to untie it. I look around desperately, my eyes landing on a large chunk of fallen stone near the edge of the platform. It’s heavy, but if we could use it as an anchor, maybe we could create a makeshift line to pull Varikka out of the water.
"Merrin!" I call out, my voice barely audible over the roar of the water and the groaning of the collapsing tower. "Throw me that stone! Quickly!"
I point to the large rock, hoping she understands what I’m getting at. If we can secure it somehow, we might be able to create a lifeline for Varikka before the creature drags her under or the platform collapses completely. It’s a desperate plan, but it’s all we have left.
