Round 69 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin lurches towards the stone slab, she feels the ground shudder beneath her feet. The rumbling noise intensifies, causing the water to churn even more violently. She manages to grab hold of the slab just as it slips beneath her, narrowly avoiding being pulled under. Merrin looks around frantically, realizing that the platform is now unstable, threatening to collapse into the churning water at any moment. The creature, sensing her presence, surges forward once more, its dark form mere inches from her face. With a burst of adrenaline, Merrin realizes she must act quickly to save Varika. She looks around, spotting a length of rope that could potentially be used as a makeshift lifeline. However, the rope is tangled and knotted, making it difficult to untangle in time. The water continues to rise, threatening to engulf the platform and everyone on it. Merrin must decide whether to risk trying to untangle the rope or look for another solution to save Varika.
I scramble onto the precarious stone slab just as it slips beneath my feet, nearly losing my grip on the slick surface. My heart is pounding in my chest as I look around, taking in the chaos of the cavern. The water is churning violently, threatening to engulf everything in its path. And there, just below me, is Varrika, still struggling against the creature's grip.
I can see the fear and desperation in her eyes, and it fuels my own sense of urgency. I know that we're all running out of time, that if we don't act fast, we could all be swept away by this raging flood.
My eyes dart around the platform, searching for anything that might be useful. And then I see it - a length of rope, tangled and knotted, but still potentially usable as a makeshift lifeline.
I start to make my way towards the rope, my movements careful and deliberate on the unstable surface. But as I reach for it, the ground beneath me shudders once more, causing me to lose my balance. I feel myself teetering on the edge of the platform, the churning water below waiting to swallow me whole.
With a burst of adrenaline, I manage to catch myself, my fingers digging into the rough stone. I take a deep breath, steadying myself as I look back at Varrika. She's still thrashing wildly, her red hair flashing through the foam as she fights against the creature's grip. I know that I have to act fast, but I also know that I can't afford to make a mistake.
I glance back at the rope, then at the water below. I can see how treacherous the climb down would be, how easy it would be to slip and fall into the churning depths. And yet, I know that Varikka needs my help, that I can't just stand by and watch as she's dragged under.
I take one last look at the platform, at the precariousness of our situation. The water is still rising, threatening to engulf us all at any moment. But I also know that we can't give up, that we have to keep fighting until the very end.
With a deep breath, I start to make my way towards the rope once more, my movements careful and deliberate. I know that this might be our only chance, that if I can just untangle it in time, we might be able to save Varrika from the creature's clutches.
But as I reach for the knot, I feel the platform shift beneath my feet once more. And suddenly, I'm not so sure about anything anymore. The water is churning even more violently now, and I can hear the distant rumble of falling debris, a reminder of just how unstable our surroundings are.
I hesitate for a moment, my hand hovering over the tangled rope. I know that I have to act fast, but I also know that one wrong move could mean the difference between life and death. And as I look back at Varrika, still thrashing wildly in the water below, I feel a wave of despair wash over me.
We're running out of time, and I don't know if we have what it takes to make it through this alive.
