Round 68 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin wades back into the churning water, she manages to grab hold of a nearby rock, using it as a makeshift anchor to steady herself. With the creature surging forward, she raises her crossbow, but this time she's aware of the limited number of bolts left. Suddenly, a loud rumbling noise echoes through the cavern, causing the ground to shudder beneath her feet, making it harder for her to maintain her balance. The stone slab Seraphine pointed out is now within reach, but Merrin realizes that getting there won't be easy. The slick surface and rising water make every step precarious, and she can feel the current tugging at her legs, threatening to drag her under at any moment. She must decide whether to risk the slippery surface or try to swim against the current to reach Varika. The creature is now mere feet away, its dark form barely visible through the churning foam, and Merrin knows that if it lunges, she'll be pulled under as well. Time is running out, and the water is rising too fast.
I grit my teeth, adrenaline surging through my veins as I scramble onto the narrow ledge, narrowly avoiding being swept away by the rising water. The current is still strong, tugging at my legs as I struggle to find solid footing on the slick stone surface. I can see Varrika thrashing wildly in the churning depths below, her red hair flashing through the foam as she fights against the creature's grip. It's a terrifying sight, and for a moment I'm frozen, unsure of what to do. But Seraphine's desperate cry snaps me out of my stupor. "Merrin, hurry! The water's rising too fast!" She's wading through the water towards a flat stone slab near the edge of the cavern, her robes heavy and waterlogged. I can see how treacherous the climb will be, the surface slick with moss and algae, but I know that it might be our only chance. With a deep breath, I start to make my way towards the platform, my heart pounding in my chest. The ledge is narrow and unstable, forcing me to crawl on hands and knees to avoid slipping into the churning water below. As I get closer to the slab, I can see how high above the water it is, and a flicker of hope sparks in my chest. If I can just reach it, I might be able to find a way to help Varrika without being pulled under myself. But as I'm about to make the final leap, a sudden rumble echoes through the cavern, causing the ground to shudder violently beneath my feet. I lose my balance, my arms flailing as I try to regain my footing on the slippery surface. For a moment, I teeter on the edge, the water churning hungrily below, but then I manage to catch myself, my fingers digging into the rough stone. I take a deep breath, steadying myself as I look back at Varrika, still struggling against the creature's grip. I know that time is running out, and that if we don't act fast, we could all be swept away by this raging flood. But right now, my only focus is on reaching that platform, on finding a way to save our friend from the clutches of this tentacled horror. I take one last look at the churning water below, then steel myself and lunge for the stone slab, praying that I can make it in time.
