Round 58 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Seraphine's eyes widen as she watches Varika being pulled through the narrow opening by the lake monster. The creature's massive tentacles wrap around the chamber, causing the water to churn violently and sending rocks tumbling down the walls. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the chamber as the sound of shifting stone is heard from deeper within the tower. With her staff still raised, Seraphine stumbles forward, desperate to reach Varika before it's too late. She manages to grab onto Varika's arm, but the creature's grip on her is unyielding. The water around them rises, threatening to engulf them both.
I feel my heart sink as I watch Varrika being dragged through the opening by the monstrous creature. "No!" I cry out, my voice echoing off the chamber walls. I lunge forward, reaching out with a desperate hand, but it's too late. She's gone. The water around me churns violently, and the tentacled horror rises from the depths, its eyes fixed on Seraphine and Varrika. They are trapped, unable to move as the creature's massive body blocks their path. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. I know I can't fight this thing alone, but I also can't just stand here and watch it tear them apart. I glance around the chamber, searching for anything I can use as a weapon. My eyes land on a fallen stalactite, its sharp edges glinting in the bioluminescent light. I move towards it, my movements quick and quiet. As I reach for the stone, I hear another loud crack echo through the chamber. The ground beneath my feet shifts, and I stumble, nearly losing my balance. "Look out!" I call to Seraphine and Varrika, but my voice is drowned out by the roar of falling rock. The water around us continues to rise, threatening to engulf us all. I grab the stalactite, feeling its weight in my hands. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come. "Seraphine, Varrika!" I call out, my voice barely audible over the chaos of the chamber. "We need to work together if we want to survive this!"
I start to move towards them, my grip tight on the makeshift weapon. But even as I do, I feel the ground beneath my feet shift again. The tower is collapsing around us, and time is running out. I glance back at the opening in the wall, wondering if there's a way to reach Merrin. But the creature's tentacles block my path, and I know I can't risk getting any closer. "Varrika!" I call out, my voice hoarse with fear. "Can you hear me? We need to find another way out of here!"
But even as I say the words, I know it may already be too late. The water is rising faster now, and the chamber is filling with a thick, choking fog. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I know I can't save Merrin alone. But maybe, if we work together, we can still make it out of this alive.
I gasp as Varrika disappears through the opening, pulled by the monstrous creature rising from the depths of the lake. The water churns violently around me, splashing against my legs and soaking my robes. I stumble back, my staff held out in front of me like a shield, but it does little to ward off the chaos unfolding before my eyes.
My heart hammers against my ribs as I watch the tentacled horror block Varrika's escape route. It's massive, its bulk filling the entire opening and threatening to crush her against the stone walls. I see Seraphine struggling to maintain her footing on the slick floor of the chamber, her staff glowing with a weak, flickering light that seems pitifully inadequate against such a monstrous foe.
I take a step forward, my mind racing as I try to think of a way to help them. But before I can even form a coherent plan, another loud crack echoes through the air, and the ground beneath my feet shifts violently. I lose my balance and fall to one knee, my staff clattering against the stone floor.
As I look up, my eyes widen in horror at what I see. The entire chamber is groaning and trembling, the walls and ceiling buckling under some unseen pressure. Chunks of rock fall from above, splashing into the churning water or smashing onto the already unstable ground. One particularly large boulder comes hurtling towards Seraphine's head, and I scream out a warning.
"Seraphine! Look out!"
I scramble to my feet, my body moving on pure instinct. I lunge forward, pushing her aside just as the boulder crashes down where she was standing moments before. We both tumble to the ground in a tangle of limbs and robes, the impact knocking the breath from my lungs.
I gasp for air, my head spinning from the fall. Seraphine lies next to me, her eyes wide with shock and fear. The water around us is now waist-deep, rising rapidly as more of it pours in through cracks in the walls. I can feel the cold seeping into my bones, chilling me to the core.
"I have to get to Varrika," I gasp out, pushing myself up onto my hands and knees. I look towards the opening where Varrika disappeared, but it's now completely blocked by a wall of tentacles and writhing flesh. "We need to find another way out of here."
