As Seraphine takes another step forward, her staff still raised, the water around her erupts in a violent foam. The glowing fungi on the walls pulse faster, casting eerie shadows across the chamber. Suddenly, the creature's grip on Merrin loosens, and she is pulled through the opening in the wall by Varrika. However, as they emerge on the other side, they find themselves face to face with an even more terrifying sight: a colossal, tentacled lake monster rises from the depths of the lake, its eyes fixed menacingly on the party. The creature's massive body blocks the narrow opening, and Varrika is trapped, unable to move. The water around them continues to rise, threatening to engulf them all.

My stomach lurches as I watch the creature drag Merrin under, her scream cut off by the churning waters. I lunge forward, reaching out with a desperate hand, but it's too late. She's gone. "No!" Varikka's voice rings out, echoing through the chamber. "Merrin!"

I whirl around to see her standing at the edge of the pit, her face pale and stricken. Behind her, the tentacled horror rises from the depths, its eyes glowing with malevolent intent.
