The sudden wave crashes in, icy water flooding the entrance hall and momentarily disorienting everyone. Seraphine gasps as he struggles to maintain his balance, his robes heavy with water. The massive abomination stumbles forward, its regeneration process stuttering for a crucial moment as the flood disrupts its healing magic. Even the skeletal horde hesitates, their bony feet scattering across the suddenly wet floor like driftwood.

Jeane wades through the churning water towards the gate, her crimson eyes scanning the surface for any sign of movement from the creature below. "Hold!" she shouts over the rushing water. "Wait for Halie's barrier to extend! "

Merrin clutches her crossbow high above the water, her dark eyes darting around to assess the situation. The sudden chaos has created an unexpected opportunity, a brief window before the abomination recovers and resumes its advance. She glances at Varrika moving towards the gate, then back at Halie maintaining the barrier spell with visible concentration.

Varrika forges ahead through the icy water, her scarred face set in determined focus. As a fighter, it's her duty to hold the line and protect the party—even if that means charging into obvious danger. The mace in her hands serves as both weapon and makeshift floatation device as she pushes forward against the current.

Halie grits her teeth, maintaining the shimmering barrier of divine energy around them despite the strain. The sudden flood has created a brief respite, but she knows it won't last—the abomination is already beginning to recover, its flesh knitting back together with horrifying speed even as it struggles through the water.

The party finds themselves in an unexpected and precarious position—momentarily alive but thoroughly soaked, surrounded by hostile undead, and facing a rapidly recovering horror that seems determined to force its way through the gate no matter what. The sudden wave may have bought them seconds at best, but those seconds are enough—for now, at least, they're alive and mobile, and that's more than could be said for them mere moments ago.

Seraphine positions himself near the center of their makeshift defensive line, his keen eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement or immediate threat. The elf woman may prefer caution over bravery, but he understands that sometimes bold action is necessary—especially when the alternative is slow death at the hands of undead horrors.

Jeane takes up position near Merrin and Varrika, her shadow tendrils coiling and uncoiling nervously as she keeps watch for any movement in the deeper shadows beyond the tappingestry. The succubus may be terrified deep down, but years of adventuring have taught her that panic solves nothing—especially when you're already outmatched and surrounded.

Merrin crouches low behind one of the stone pillars, her crossbow held at the ready as she tries to penetrate the swirling dust and magical energies. Her rogue's instincts scream at her that this is it—the moment when their pursuers emerge from whatever hellish plane they've connected to.
