Seraphine steps forward, her expression grim as she takes in the unsettling scene before them. The ancient symbols on the wall pulse with an ominous light, casting eerie shadows that dance across the stone floor. "Halie, wait!" she calls out, her voice sharp with concern. The air around them grows colder by the moment, and the very stones seem to groan in protest. She moves closer to Merrin, her hand instinctively going to the hilt of her mace. The green mist below the platform shifts and swirls, tendrils reaching out as if drawn by Halie's presence.* This is not a situation to be approached lightly. We know nothing of what binds that creature or the consequences of releasing it.

Seraphine's sharp eyes scan the chamber, taking in every detail of the ancient architecture and the strange symbols etched into the stone. The binding circles... they're unlike anything I've ever seen in my studies. Such intricate patterns, woven with arcane energy that still persists after all these centuries. She crouches slightly, peering at the ground near the edge of the platform. And what's this? A burned fragment of parchment? Her fingers hover above it, not quite touching, as she examines the hasty scrawl visible on its surface.

Seraphine straightens, her gaze returning to Halie and the writhing spirit. We must proceed with extreme caution. The very air crackles with arcane energy here—energy that could be dangerous if disturbed carelessly. She glances up at the precarious shaft above them, then back to Merrin. Perhaps we should focus on securing a safe descent first? Or finding another way down? This platform feels... unstable.

Her expression darkens as she considers the implications of their situation. Releasing a bound spirit without understanding its nature or the binding's purpose could have unforeseen consequences. The stories speak of demons bound within these walls—what if this is one such entity? Seraphine's fingers tighten around her mace once more. We need to know what we're dealing with before taking such drastic actions.

She moves closer to the edge of the platform, peering down into the swirling green mist below. And what of that... fog? It behaves almost sentiently. Seraphine's voice drops lower, her words barely audible over the groaning stone. I've heard tales of spirits bound in mist and vapor, able to possess the unwary who breathe them in. We should not risk contamination.

Seraphine's keen eyes narrow as she spots a faint shimmer in the air near one of the wall symbols—a magical trap perhaps? She raises her hand, arcane energy gathering at her fingertips. If there are traps here, I can attempt to disable them... but we must be swift. The entire chamber feels like it could come crashing down around us at any moment.

She glances back at Merrin, her expression a mix of concern and barely concealed frustration. Halie's descent was... unwise. But we cannot leave her now. Seraphine's voice carries a trace of resignation. Very well. If we're to proceed, let us do so with caution and purpose. I'll examine the binding circles for weaknesses or triggers—perhaps there's a safer way to free Merrin without releasing whatever... thing... lies bound below.

Seraphine begins to circle the platform slowly, her eyes never leaving the writhing spirit as she studies the ancient symbols. You there, spirit! Her voice echoes in the chamber, carrying a commanding tone. Speak if you can hear me! Tell us what binds you here and how we might free our companion without endangering ourselves!

As she moves, Seraphine's foot suddenly slips on a patch of loose stone dust. She stumbles, her outstretched hand catching the wall just in time to prevent a fall. Damn this unstable floor! she mutters, regaining her balance with practiced grace. We need to document this chamber properly before—Her words cut off as another section of the ceiling above them crumbles, raining dust and small stones down around them.

Seraphine coughs, shielding her face from the debris. When she looks up, her eyes widen in alarm. Merrin! Get back! The entire shaft is collapsing! She lunges forward, grabbing Merrin's arm and pulling her away from the edge just as a larger section of stone gives way with an ominous rumble.

The sound of shifting rubble fills the air as more of the ceiling above the shaft comes loose. Seraphine stands protectively in front of Merrin, her mace raised, as they watch the passage down to Halie slowly disappear beneath a growing pile of stone and debris. This changes everything... she mutters, her expression grim. Now we have no choice but to find another way down—or to deal with whatever lies beyond that barrier.
