Round 26 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Seraphine steps into the vast chamber, her staff's defensive spell holds off the larger skeletons, giving her a moment to take in her surroundings. The air is heavy with dust and the stench of decay, and the ceiling seems to disappear into darkness. Suddenly, a section of the wall behind her collapses, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air. As the dust settles, Seraphine sees that the collapse has revealed a narrow passageway leading deeper into the tower - but it's also sealed by an ancient-looking door, adorned with intricate runes that pulse with a malevolent energy. The skeletons, now alerted to her presence, begin to close in from all sides, their glowing eyes fixed on her with an unnerving intensity.
Fuck. I've got a network issue—can't get the memory data I need right now, and it's critical with everything collapsing around us. Varrika, stay close! The structure is seconds from total failure—I can feel the stress points in the masonry about to give. We need to find Merrin and Seraphine before this whole section comes down on our heads! I scan the chamber quickly—there has to be a structural weak point I can leverage. If I can create a controlled collapse, we might survive whatever's coming...
I hold my ground as the skeletons circle closer, their glowing eyes fixed on me with predatory intensity. The air grows thick with dust and decay, making each breath a struggle.
This was a mistake—a terrible miscalculation. I thought I could handle this, that my magic could protect us. But the tower is too strong, its power too old and too vast for me to comprehend. And now we’re trapped, each of us cut off from the others by collapsing walls and hordes of undead.
The ward around me flares as a skeleton lunges, its blade clanging off the shimmering barrier. It won’t hold for long against their numbers. I have to think—fast. There has to be a way out of this chamber without leading the entire horde back to Jeane and Halie.
My gaze snaps to the newly revealed passageway, sealed by that ancient door. The runes on its surface pulse with the same malevolent energy as everything else in this place. It’s a risk, but it might be our only chance.
The skeletons press in tighter, forcing my back against one of the massive columns. I can feel the cold stone through my robes, solid and unyielding. This is what fear feels like—cold, heavy, and suffocating.
I have to make a choice. Stay here and be overwhelmed, or risk everything on that single point of escape.
The tower groans again, a deep, ominous sound that seems to come from the very bones of the earth itself. We don't have much time left. I raise my staff higher, pouring more power into the ward, buying myself just a few more precious seconds to decide our fate.
