Phase: escalating

Seraphine descends the newly revealed stairs with measured steps, her staff held ready in both hands. The stone underfoot groans ominously, but she presses on, her keen elven eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement or magic. The air grows thick with dust and decay as she descends deeper into the tower's heart. Each breath is a struggle against the oppressive atmosphere, and her lungs burn with each inhalation. At the bottom of the stairs, the chamber opens up into a vast space filled with ancient machinery and pulsing arcane energies. The sight takes her breath away—the sheer scale of what she's found is almost overwhelming. But there's no time to marvel. She can feel the ambient magic pressing in on her, actively resisting her presence. Her ward spell flickers, struggling against the corrupting influence that seems to emanate from every stone surface. She grits her teeth and focuses her will, pouring more arcane energy into the barrier as she steps further into the chamber. The air here is alive with magic—ancient and powerful beyond measure. But it's twisted, corrupted by some dark purpose long forgotten. She can feel it clawing at her mind, trying to drag her down into madness.
Seraphine's sharp eyes spot a massive stone door set into the far wall, covered in writhing runes that pulse with malevolent light. That has to be it—that has to be the tower's true heart. The source of all this power, and the key to stopping the collapse. She takes a deep breath, steadying herself against the magical onslaught. Time to find out what secrets this place has been hiding for so long.
