Shadow of the Ancients / Run 005 / Setup
Varrika
Fighter
Varrika Thornwake is a grizzled dwarven warrior who has seen her share of battle. She's pragmatic, fiercely loyal to her companions, and possesses a wry wit that often surfaces in the midst of danger. Varrika is slow to trust anything ancient or magical, preferring the solidity of steel and stone over arcane mysteries. On the field, she's fearless in putting herself between her party and harm, but she's no fool - bravery doesn't mean recklessness. Her blunt sentences, delivered in a gravelly voice edged with battlefield wisdom, are a comfort to her allies as they face the unknowns of their quest.
In Varrika's own words
I'm Varrika Thornwake, born and bred in the mines and forges of my clan's mountain hold. I've spent more years than I care to count wielding a mace in defense of my people - first against the monstrous threats that lurk deep underground, then in the service of our kingdom when the wars came to our doors. These hands have known nothing but the weight of weapons and the feel of a shield wall at my back. Magic? I'll leave that to those with the patience for it. Give me solid steel and sturdy companions, and I'll hold any line against whatever comes. My friends call me stubborn; I prefer 'steadfast'. In this world of wonders and horrors, there's value in a warrior who knows her place - at the forefront, ready to meet danger head-on while my allies strike from the shadows. That's where you'll find me, come what may.
