As Merrin's dark reflection takes shape, its eyes glowing with malevolent intent, the creature's tentacles lash out, knocking Merrin to the ground. Varrika swiftly moves to her side, offering a helping hand. "Merrin, stay with me!" she urges, as she readies her mace for a defensive strike. The creature's body begins to merge with the rocks around it, its pulsating glow illuminating the dark recesses of the cavern. The air hums with energy, and the ground trembles beneath their feet. Suddenly, the creature's tentacles snap free from the rocks, wrapping around Merrin's wrist like a vice. "No!" Varrika exclaims, as she lunges forward to strike at the creature. The creature's grip tightens, and Merrin's face contorts in fear. The dark reflection begins to grow larger, its presence spreading throughout the cavern like a stain. The Voice's voice echoes in their minds once more, "Your greatest fears will consume you... if you cannot overcome them."

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

The creature's tentacle wraps around my wrist, squeezing tight. I let out a cry of pain as it drags me towards its pulsating form. Varrika lunges forward, her mace swinging in a wide arc. The heavy head of the weapon cracks against the creature's body, but it doesn't seem to faze it. "Varrika!" I call out, struggling against the tentacle's grip. "I can't... I can't move!"

The fighter's eyes dart between me and the creature, concern etched on her face. "Stay calm, Merrin," she says, her voice steady and reassuring. "We'll figure this out together."

But as the creature's dark reflection grows larger, its presence spreading throughout the cavern like a stain, I can feel a sense of dread washing over me. The Voice's words echo in my mind: "Your greatest fears will consume you... if you cannot overcome them."

I look down at my crossbow, still clutched tightly in my hand. But it feels heavy, unresponsive. As if the weapon itself is fighting against me. "Varrika," I say, my voice trembling with fear. "Something's wrong. I can't... I can't move properly."

The fighter nods, her mace raised high. "I see it, Merrin. Whatever this thing is, it's not going to be easy to take down."

I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself. The creature's eyes bore into mine, its gaze full of malice and hunger. But I don't look away. I can't look away. "I've faced worse than this before," I say, my voice firm and determined. "And with you by my side, Varrika... we'll come out on top."

The fighter smiles, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "You got that right, Merrin. We've got this thing on the ropes. Let's finish it off."

And with that, I raise my crossbow once more, ready to strike at the slightest provocation. Whatever horrors the Voice has in store for us... we'll overcome them. Together.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I rush to your side, my mace raised high. The creature's tentacle squeezes tighter around your wrist, and I can see the fear in your eyes. "Hold on, Merrin!" I call out, my voice steady and determined. "I've got you."

With a swift motion, I bring my mace down on the creature's tentacle, the heavy head of the weapon cracking against its pulsating form. The tentacle loosens its grip, and I yank you free from its clutches. "Merrin, are you alright?" I ask, my eyes scanning your body for any signs of injury. You nod, a look of relief washing over your face as you clutch your crossbow tightly in your hand. The creature's dark reflection grows larger, its presence spreading throughout the cavern like a stain. The Voice's words echo in our minds once more: "Your greatest fears will consume you... if you cannot overcome them."

I tighten my grip on my mace, my eyes fixed on the creature before us. "Whatever this thing is," I mutter under my breath, "it's not going to be easy to take down."

But I've faced worse than this before. In battle after battle, I've stood my ground against overwhelming odds. And with Merrin by my side... we can take on anything. I take a step forward, my footfalls echoing through the cavernous space. The creature's eyes bore into mine, its gaze full of malice and hunger. But I don't look away. I can't look away. Not when Merrin's life may depend on it. "Stay close to me, Merrin," I say, my voice low and urgent. "We'll figure this out together."

And with that, I raise my mace once more, ready to strike at the slightest provocation. Whatever comes next... we'll face it head-on. Just like always.
