Round 225 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The ground beneath Varrika's feet gives a sickening creak, and the ledge shudders violently. She stumbles, her mace slipping from her grasp, but manages to catch herself just in time. Merrin's crossbow bolts into the wall behind her, the sound echoing through the chamber. The Figure in Shimmering Light doesn't flinch, its gaze fixed intently on Varrika. As Varrika struggles to regain her footing, a loud rumbling noise grows louder, and the ground begins to shake with increasing intensity. The unstable dimension's shifting terrain seems to be responding to the party's presence, and the chamber is now a whirlwind of dust and debris. The air is filled with the acrid smell of ozone, and the waning magic from the unstable state begins to seep into Varrika's mind, threatening to overwhelm her.
I let out a sharp exhale as the ledge beneath my feet shudders violently, nearly sending me tumbling over the edge. I manage to steady myself just in time, my heart pounding in my chest as I watch Varrika struggle to regain her footing.
I keep my crossbow trained on the Figure in Shimmering Light ahead, my finger poised over the trigger. But something about its unblinking gaze makes me hesitate. It's like it's watching us, waiting for us to make a move.
As the rumbling grows louder and the ground begins to shake with increasing intensity, I feel a sense of unease wash over me. This place is unstable, dangerous. And whatever's in that pool, I don't think it's something we want to stick around to find out.
I glance over at Varrika, her face a mask of concentration as she tries to keep her footing on the shifting ledge. We need to get out of here, and fast. But with the chamber collapsing around us and the Figure in Shimmering Light blocking our path, I'm not sure what our options are.
I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I feel the ground shift beneath my feet once more. The mirror shards are casting their mesmerizing display of light and shadow around us, making it hard to focus on anything else. But I know that we need to keep moving forward if we want to survive this place.
I step towards Varrika, my voice low and urgent. "We need to move," I whisper. "This ledge isn't going to hold forever. And whatever's in that pool, I don't think it's something we want to stick around to find out."
I glance back at the Figure in Shimmering Light, its eyes still fixed on us with an unblinking intensity. I know that we're going to have to deal with it eventually, but right now, our main priority is getting out of this room alive.
I take another step forward, my crossbow trained on the Figure as I scan the chamber for any signs of an exit. "Stay close," I mutter to Varrika. "And whatever you do, don't let that Figure in Shimmering Light get too close. I have a feeling it's not here to help us."
I know we're in for the fight of our lives, but I also know that together, Varrika and I can face whatever horrors this place may hold. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my crossbow, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to fight for our lives.
I tighten my grip on my mace, my knuckles white as I feel the ledge shift beneath my feet once more. The ground is shaking violently now, and I can feel the chamber collapsing around us. Merrin's right - we need to get out of here, and fast.
