Round 223 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varrika takes another step forward, her mace at the ready, as she tries to keep her footing on the unstable ledge. The mirror shards embedded in the walls continue to glow with an eerie light, casting reflections of themselves that seem to twist and writhe like living things. The air is thick with the scent of ozone and burning magic, making it difficult to breathe. Merrin's crossbow is trained on the Figure in Shimmering Light, which seems to be watching them with an unblinking gaze. The chamber's unstable terrain creaks and groans beneath their feet, threatening to send them tumbling into the abyss at any moment. A faint whispering starts to echo through the chamber, seemingly coming from the mirror shards themselves.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart as I take another step onto the shifting ledge. "I don't like this," I mutter under my breath, my eyes darting around the chamber, taking in every detail. "Something's not right here."
The mirror shards embedded in the walls continue to glow with an eerie light, casting reflections of ourselves that seem to twist and writhe like living things. I can feel the heat from the central pool's energy halo on my skin, even from this distance. The air is thick with the scent of ozone and burning magic, making it difficult to breathe.
I know we're in for the fight of our lives, but I also know that together, Varrika and I can face whatever horrors this place may hold. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my crossbow, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to fight for our lives.
I keep my eyes peeled for any hidden traps or hazards, my senses on high alert. The whispering seems to be getting louder, echoing off the walls of the chamber and filling my ears with an eerie hum. "Stay close," I warn Varrika, my voice barely audible over the otherworldly sounds filling the chamber. "And whatever you do, don't let that Figure in Shimmering Light get too close. I have a feeling it's not here to help us."
I know we're outmatched by whatever force is at work here, but I also know that together, Varrika and I can face anything this godforsaken place throws at us. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my crossbow, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to fight for our lives.
I grip my mace tightly, my knuckles white with tension as I try to keep my balance on the shifting ledge. The mirror shards embedded in the walls are casting a mesmerizing display of light and shadow around us, making it difficult to focus on anything else.
