Round 219 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varrika and Merrin take another step forward, the ledge creaks ominously beneath their feet. The Figure in Shimmering Light takes a step closer, its eyes burning with an intense light that makes the air seem to thicken. Suddenly, the central pool behind them erupts in a blinding flash of energy, and when the light fades, Varrika stumbles backwards, her crossbow slipping from her grasp. The pool's energy halo pulsates wildly, causing the ground to shudder beneath their feet. Merrin quickly reaches out to catch Varrika's arm, steadying her as she struggles to regain her balance. "We need to get out of here, now!" Varrika whispers urgently, her eyes fixed on The Figure, which remains still, its gaze piercing but unblinking. The unstable dimension's shifting terrain begins to manifest in the air around them, swirling misty tendrils that threaten to pull them off balance. The mirror shards embedded in the walls of the chamber start to glow with an eerie light, casting reflections of themselves that seem to twist and writhe like living things. The air is filled with the acrid scent of ozone and burning magic.
I feel my heart race as the ledge shifts beneath our feet, the Figure in Shimmering Light looming before us. Varikka's right - whatever this is, it's not good. I can feel the energy from the central pool pulsing through the air, making it hard to breathe. It's like the very ground we're standing on is trying to unravel around us.
I glance over at Varikka and see the same look of unease on her face. She's right - we need to get out of here, now. But where do we go? The ledge seems to be the only solid ground left in this godforsaken place.
I tighten my grip on my crossbow, feeling the weight of it in my hand. It's a comforting presence, a reminder that I'm not defenseless against whatever horrors might be lurking in the shadows. But even with my weapon at the ready, I know that we're outmatched by whatever force is at work here.
I take a step forward, trying to steady myself on the shifting ledge. The Figure's eyes bore into mine, and I feel a chill run down my spine. Whatever it is we're facing, it's not going to be pretty. But I know one thing for sure - I'm not going down without a fight.
I turn to Varikka and nod, my jaw set with determination. "Stay close," I mutter, my voice barely audible over the otherworldly sounds filling the chamber. "And whatever you do, don't let go of your weapon."

I know we're in for the fight of our lives, but I also know that together, Merrin and I can face anything this godforsaken place throws at us. And so, with a deep breath and a steadying grip on my mace, I step forward onto the shifting ledge, ready to face whatever comes next.
