Round 190 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varrika speaks, the whispering grows louder, and the air seems to vibrate with ancient magic. Suddenly, the passageway begins to shake violently, and the ground trembles beneath your feet. The narrow opening is blocked by a massive boulder, which comes crashing down from above, barely missing you both. The rock crashes into the wall, sending up a cloud of dust and debris.
I barely manage to dodge out of the way as the boulder comes crashing down, sending up a cloud of dust and debris. My heart is pounding in my chest as I look around, trying to get my bearings. "Varrika," I say, my voice low and urgent. "Are you alright?"
I keep my crossbow at the ready, scanning the shadows for any sign of movement or danger. The air is thick with moisture, and the scent of damp earth fills my nostrils. But as I look around, I can see that we are trapped in this cavern, with no obvious way out. "We need to find a way through this," I mutter under my breath. "But we need to be careful. Whatever magic is at work here, it's powerful stuff."
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. The ancient runes etched into the walls pulse with an otherworldly glow, their meaning lost to the ages. But as I study them more closely, I can see that they seem to form a pattern, a series of symbols that repeat over and over again. "Varrika," I say, my voice low and urgent. "I think these runes might be some kind of key. We need to find a way to decipher them if we're going to get out of here alive."
I nod grimly at Merrin, my mace still at the ready. "Aye, I'm solid," I mutter. "But this place... it's got a bad feel to it. Like we're being watched."
The boulder's fall has left a cloud of dust hanging in the air, making it hard to see more than a few feet ahead. But as the haze begins to settle, I can make out the shape of the ancient runes etched into the walls, pulsing with an otherworldly light. Merrin's right - these markings might be the key to getting us out of here. But deciphering them... that's no easy task. "You're thinking what I'm thinking, then," I say, my voice low. "We need to figure out what these runes mean if we want any hope of finding our way through this place."
I take a step towards the wall, my eyes scanning the symbols. But as I move closer, I can feel a sudden surge of energy, like the very air around me is alive with magic. "Careful," I warn Merrin, my hand tightening on my mace. "Whatever this is... it's powerful stuff."
I take another step forward, my heart pounding in my chest. The runes seem to dance before my eyes, their meaning just out of reach. But as I study them more closely, I can see a pattern beginning to emerge. It's a series of symbols, repeating over and over again. And as I trace them with my eyes, I can feel the magic in the air growing stronger, like a tide rising around us. "Merrin," I say, my voice low and urgent. "I think we're onto something here. But we need to be careful... whatever this is, it's not going to be easy to decipher."
I take another step forward, my eyes fixed on the runes. The air around me seems to crackle with energy, and I can feel a sense of unease settling over me. But there's no turning back now. We're trapped in this cavern, with no obvious way out. And if we want any hope of survival, we need to figure out what these runes mean... before it's too late.
