Round 149 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Crystal Figure nods, her smile growing wider as she speaks. "The platform's runes will stabilize your balance, but only for a moment. You must reach the glowing crystal at its center before it shatters, sending you tumbling into the unknown." The ground beneath Varrika's feet shudders once more, and the platform begins to tilt. Crystal Figure's eyes gleam with an otherworldly intensity as she adds, "The first of you to reach the crystal will be granted a glimpse into the Time-Splitting Sword's secrets, but only if you can overcome your greatest fear."
I feel the ground shift beneath my feet, the crystal facets tilting in a maddening dance as I struggle to maintain my balance. My heart pounds as I watch Varikka stagger, their mace clattering against the unsteady surface.
But there is no time for concern. The crystal figure's words echo in my mind, a challenge laid down with a smile that does not reach her eyes. A platform rises from the plain, its runes pulsing like a malevolent heartbeat, and I know that our true test has only just begun.
I leap onto the platform, my agility on full display as I race towards the glowing crystal at its center. The ground shifts beneath my feet, the runes wavering as the platform tilts dangerously to one side. But I do not falter. I push myself harder, faster, my muscles burning with effort as I strain to reach the crystal before it shatters.
And then, in a flash of blinding light, I am there. My hand closes around the crystal, its energy pulsing through my veins like a living thing. And for a moment, I feel a sense of triumph, of victory over the challenges that this realm has thrown at us.
But it is short-lived. The crystal figure's words echo in my mind once more, a warning of the price we may have to pay for this power. A glimpse into the Time-Splitting Sword's secrets, but only if we can overcome our greatest fear.
And as I stand there on the platform, the runes fading beneath my feet, I know that whatever trial awaits us next, it will be unlike anything we have faced before. For in this realm, where the laws of nature are twisted beyond recognition, even the greatest victory may come at a cost too high to bear.
But we have no choice. We must face this challenge, and whatever horrors may follow, if we are to survive this place and emerge with the power we seek. And so, with a final glance at the crystal figure's unreadable expression, I step off the platform, ready to face whatever lies ahead.
But even as I do, I feel a sense of unease growing in my gut. For in this realm, where nothing is as it seems and the very laws of reality are subject to the whims of unseen forces, even the greatest triumph may be no more than a trap, waiting to spring at the most opportune moment.
And so I stand there, my hand still tingling from the touch of the crystal, my heart pounding in my chest as I wait for Varikka to join me on this maddening dance of light and shadow, of power and sacrifice, of victory and loss.
Whatever comes next, we will face it together. For we are warriors of the Book, bound by a power that transcends even the twisted laws of this dimension. And as long as Varikka stands beside me, united in our struggle against this realm's horrors, I know that we can overcome anything.
I watch Merrin leap onto the platform, their agility on full display as they race towards the glowing crystal at its center. I feel a surge of pride at their skill, even as fear gnaws at my gut.
But I know that our true test has only just begun. The crystal figure's words echo in my mind, a challenge laid down with a smile that does not reach her eyes. A platform rises from the plain, its runes pulsing like a malevolent heartbeat, and I know that whatever power it promises, whatever price we may have to pay, we must face this trial if we are to survive this realm.
I stagger as the ground shifts beneath my feet, the crystal facets tilting in a dizzying dance. My heart pounds as I struggle to maintain my balance, my mace clattering against the unsteady surface. But I do not let myself be thrown off. I grip the weapon tightly, using it as a counterbalance as I make my way towards the platform.
And then, in a flash of blinding light, Merrin is there. Their hand closes around the crystal, its energy pulsing through their veins like a living thing. And for a moment, I feel a sense of triumph, of victory over the challenges that this realm has thrown at us.

And as I step onto the platform, my feet sinking into the crystal facets with a sickening crunch, I know that whatever trial awaits us next, it will be unlike anything we have faced before. For in this realm, where the laws of nature are twisted beyond recognition, even the greatest victory may come at a cost too high to bear.
But we have no choice. We must face this challenge, and whatever horrors may follow, if we are to survive this place and emerge with the power we seek. And so, with a final glance at Merrin's face, their eyes alight with the energy of the crystal, I ready myself for whatever lies ahead.

And so I stand there, my hand gripping my mace tightly, my heart pounding in my chest as I wait for whatever challenge the crystal figure may set before us next. Whatever comes, we will face it together. And with the power of the Book flowing through our veins, and the strength of our unity to guide us, we will emerge victorious, no matter the cost.
